Meet Adrienne Reed and Benjamin Walker of Brunch 2 Bomb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrienne Reed and Benjamin Walker, co-founders of the rapidly growing 90’s R&B event, Brunch 2 Bomb.

The LA based event offers attendees an opportunity to celebrate life without subscribing to traditional club standards like bottle service, celebrity status/association, or pretentious dress code requirements. With aspects of a day party and brunch combined, Brunch 2 Bomb can easily be confused with other events. The difference maker for B2B are the PEOPLE. The community building at Brunch 2 Bomb is second to none. Guests come as strangers but leave as fast friends and family.

Brunch 2 Bomb’s familial atmosphere, providing the perfect place to build fruitful, long-lasting professional and personal relationships. The most authentic relationships come from authentic connections, and Brunch 2 Bomb finally gives you the place to do that.

Brunch 2 Bomb is both an accident and a perfect storm ten years in the making. Co-founders, Adrienne Reed, and Benjamin Walker met in 2003 at the University of La Verne and quickly developed a brother/sister like bond. Life happened and the two lost contact, reconnected many years after their ULV days via mutual friends. It became very clear no time had been lost.

At this point, Benjamin was a budding DJ in Hollywood and Adrienne was taking corporate America by storm. Shortly after reconnecting as friends the two experienced each other’s professional expertise and saw the opportunity to create a unique event platform together. Talks shortly followed to start a networking brunch series in Hollywood.

Unfortunately, with their individual careers on rapid rises to the top, this bright idea seemed to find its way to the back burner. Slowly but surely it was forgotten about, until August 2017. Adrienne found herself in a bit of a birthday dilemma. She was looking for a location to host a 30+ person brunch without a deposit. Having outgrown the club stage and having never been a fan of the Hollywood process or bottle service in general, brunch was her natural go to. Unfortunately, finding a location to accommodate her closest friends just wasn’t that simple.

Enter longtime friend and popular celebrity DJ, Benjamin Walker, with a solution. Ben took Adrienne’s problem to the manager of one of his residency venues, 1933 Group’s Harlowe Bar in West Hollywood and just like that the problem was solved. This quaint venue’s surrounding ample parking and tasty brunch bites was the perfect solution.

Adrienne was totally down, on one condition, her favorite DJ had to provide the soundtrack closest to her heart– 90’s R&B with a few new tracks sprinkled in. Benjamin obliged but with a venue this large the guest list needed to increase as well. The birthday boy (8/24) and girl (8/20) combined their birthdays and 200+ guests showed up.

The turn out blew Adrienne, Benjamin, and Harlowe manager, Billy Bob Thompson away. Inspired by the turnout and intrigued by the concept, Billy asked Ben and Adrienne to return. A few meetings later and a back burner brunch concept nearly ten years old, has become one of the largest brunches in the country.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth? Not at all. But nothing in purpose is smooth or expected. We never expected to be where we are today and definitely not this fast. Our fast growth comes with growing pains galore. A great problem to have but a problem nonetheless. Our biggest struggle has definitely been venues, venues, venues. For the type of event, we are committed to producing, we need alot from our venue– seating to at least 70% of our presale guests, reasonable pricing for brunch, and most importantly a strong value perspective of the business our community brings their business.

We believe in the power of our brand and our supporters. We don’t want their patronage discounted in any way. Which is just unfortunately not common in Hollywood.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Brunch 2 Bomb (a subsidiary of Hamba, LLC) – what should we know?
We have become the place to be for brunch for professional millennials looking for a “Sunday Funday” experience unlike the standard “Hollywood” experience in LA. We bring back some of your television and movie favorites, to reignite your youth for what we only hope is the time of your life. Having brought back classics like Love Jones, Coming to America, Love & Basketball, The Wiz and more–you never know what we have in store.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
All of our supporters. We have ridiculously loyal advocates in our village. We could not have prayed for better. They ride for us. They protect us. They cheer us on. They celebrate us. They are the most critical part of our success. Without their seemingly undying support and loyalty, we would not have achieved the level of success we have. With their support we are unstoppable. We are eternally thankful for the B2B Family!
