Meet Adriana Adamcova of Makeup by Kaya in Marina Del Rey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Adamcova.

A published makeup artist Adriana Adamcova (alias KAYA), was born in former Czechoslovakia. She grew up in family with a beautiful, smart and wise Mother, who from a very young age instilled in her the fundamental life principles of “EVERY WOMAN IS BEAUTIFUL“

As a child, she was already very passionate about fashion and styling, and she started developing and practicing her talent on her childhood friends.

In 1990 she successfully entered the world of professional modeling in her post-communist country of Slovakia and toured many European cities like Vienna, Munich, Milan, London, amongst others.

In 1993 she became the co-founder of the modeling agency
K FASHION – which today continues in operation under BLACK&WHITE PRODUCTIONS.

In 1996 she started a corporation doing business with many
international fashion agencies including recognized US artists, gallery owners and key fashion enterprises in the United States.
During these years she gained very strong experience in the world of fashion, runway shows, fashion styling, photo shoot coordination and worked with many European celebrities.

In 2002 she officially moved to California – Los Angeles where she’s continuing to gain more knowledge and enhancing her skills and talent in makeup artistry, fashion and in expressing the beauty of women. She is working with models, actors but also with everyday people.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was a pretty smooth road as I’m in fashion and modeling for over 20 years. The only challenge was when I changed continents – the mentality of people is different in the USA and Europe. I needed to learn work in a different way and by different rules. Starting from zero in a new country is always challenge.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Makeup by Kaya story. Tell us more about the business.
My company Name is created from my Nickname – Kaya – it’s my family Nickname. My work is basically my hobby as well…..I think it’s a dream come true to call your work a hobby. I’m specializing in natural look as is my life philosophy – we are all beautiful – we just need to highlight the beauty in us. I work with models, actors, celebrities but for me personally the every day women are THE celebrities……going through everyday challenges with family, work, children and life trammels, and be able to steal time for yourself to feel pretty and confident – that is the real celebrity for me in my eyes. Every day I’m meeting women and listening dozen and dozen of life stories make me feel satisfied that I can be part of these stories in a positive way….

I’m also working with ill women, women who overcame or still going through a serious illness and these women yet want to be beautiful and feel like in their best moment – these are THE Heroes and celebrities for me……

So I’m proud of myself to be part of their life and their life stories……

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I wouldn’t call it ” luck ” as I consider myself as a hard working person in many ways, so yeah the luck is needed but I feel lucky to be able to provide this service….and have the ability in me….
