Meet Adrian Joseph

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian Joseph.

Adrian, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I moved to NYC back in 2012, from my home in the Caribbean, Puerto Rico. At the time like many that have moved to NYC, I had nothing but a dream. Seems like it was all I needed and I am not saying the road wasn’t easy. There’s a lot that I can say about my experience in New York City, but I promise to share it when I write my book someday. For now, let’s say it was a place that molded me to be exactly where I am today. I did internships both in styling and public relations while also being a contributing editor for various publications and blogs.

I’ve been in Los Angeles for two years officially this month. I needed a change and what a breakaway it’s been. I am surrounded by colleagues, peers and clients that make me feel like all my hard work and the struggle (which never ends) is totally worth it.

It’s only still just beginning and it definitely feels fresh everyday. Thankful for being where I am today.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Far from smooth, the road in this industry has been. Struggles are part of the day to day life of being your own boss and running yourself as a business. It takes a lot of discipline to not give up when the times are tough. When you feel no one is cheering for you. But once you withstand and focus your energy on truly being the success, you intend to be it all starts to change. I’ve learned that if you want it bad enough and you don’t quit, you’ll always get it.

Persistence is key and loving yourself along the way is the recipe.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a wardrobe stylist and creative consultant with a background in fashion production and film direction. I’m proud of my ability to work with any clients no matter their age, gender, nationality, social status and overall background. Many people find it that they can only deliver one “look” or “idea” and that’s fine, but I consider myself a painter of dreams and architect of emotions through imagery and concept development.

Working with me is like working with your best friend if your best friend had the fashion conscious of Edward Enninful.

What were you like growing up?
Ever since I was a child, I had an obsession with professional wrestling. I loved the larger than life personas and outrageous outfits. Not to mention the drama and presentation from top to bottom. I loved spectacle growing up and at the time where I didn’t know much about “fashion photography” I’d watch wrestling.

As I grew older and the internet became a thing in Puerto Rico, I started my own journey of exploration into arts, through music and it’s presentation on a channel called MTV. The rest is history!
