Meet Adam Aejaye Jackson of Fullspectrumusic in San Fernando Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Aejaye Jackson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Adam Aejaye Jackson. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, I’m from Detroit Michigan. I’m a graduate of Oakland University, located in Rochester Michigan, earning a B. S Degree in Human Resources with double minors in Music and Theatre. I was the first person in my family to graduate from college. After graduation, I relocated to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams of becoming a professional voice artist. I’ve been blessed to tour and record with the likes of Toni Braxton, John Tess, Billy Griffin, David Foster, Charo, Vesta Williams, Linda Hopkins, Harvey Mason. Josh Groban, Stevie Wonder, Melissa Manchester, Kenneth “BabyFace” Edmunds, Macklemore, Carole Bayer Sager, Patti Austin Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr, to name a few.

Another passion I have is mentoring at-risk youth. I’m currently serving on several boards and working with organizations that give me the opportunity to exercise these gifts. One such organization is my fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Our mentorship Guide Right Program is called Kappa League. We mentor young men through their high school journey, assisting them in reaching academy excellence. We work hand and hand with parents and schools to make sure they’re on time for success. We host monthly meetings where the young men are engaged in workshops, coding, health etiquette training, community service and team-building exercises. It is with great pride that I say I, myself, am the product of this program some 42 years ago. I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back to a program that played a major role in my personal development. Most of these young man don’t have father figures at home so we love and support them like they’re our own.

CARRY is The Coalition for At Risk and Restoring Youth. This is an amazing organization where we provide monthly camp services to the youth in at risk communities. After we find the interest of our young adults, we provide services to keep them engaged. We talk about mental health and we bring in professionals to speak on the topic as well. The program provides yoga classes, art classes, dances, etiquette training, field trips to various fun parks, museums, and local plays. The founder, Dr. Pearl Grimes, a renown Dermatologist, offers pro bono skincare services to help build their self-esteem. It’s an honor, as a board member, to be in their presence, to speak positive things to them and see them glow with hidden potential.

It is also an honor to be on the board of In A World With Books. With IAWWB we give free books to schools and organizations. We demonstrate and speak of the importance of reading. The looks and smiles we see on the faces of these young, loving children, to just receive their own book to take home and share, is priceless. Mrs. Nita Whitaker is the founder of the organization.

Her late husband, Don LaFontaine, (my adopted brother and friend) was known as “The King of Voiceovers”. Don was a very loving and generous man. He was also an avid reader and felt every child should have his or her own book. I am so blessed to see his dream blossom.

Another organization I have had the pleasure to be a part of for over 9 years is “Engage The Vision”. ETV was founded by Pastor Thom Washington and Vince Allen. The organization includes a group of working African American entertainers, including actors, writers, singers, voiceover artists, producers, dancers, makeup artist, and castings directors. We adopted Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School (LA) and every Friday we would meet and mentor the young Kings (male students) in an after school program. We refer to them as “Young Kings” as we always want to pour positive and enlightening terms into them to remind them who they are. We focus on self esteem, conflict/resolution, self respect, meditation, and stress the importance of education. I’m proud to say that our collective efforts and consistency of showing up has had a major impact not only on our Young Kings but the Young Queens, faculty and community as well . The organization is now working on a mentorship program for our Young Queens.

I also spend countless hours praying and visiting the sick and shut-in. I get that from my Mom as she was a home caregiver and that was all I saw growing up. It became second nature to me

Even though I’m visiting and praying for others, I realize I’m also being blessed because I’m working on my spiritual self at the same time. Recently, I was appointed as a member of the National Auxiliary Committee to assist the Grand National Chaplin of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc

This year my wife, Linda, and I celebrated 29 years of marriage. We have three amazing young adults Taylor (college graduate) Blake (college graduate) and Kennedy (a junior in college).
