Meet Abraham Justice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abraham Justice.

Abraham, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I always wanted to do something significant, unforgettable that could make living a more fascinating and exciting journey. I never wanted to live an ordinary life. Since I was a child, I have been dreaming of making a change to the world. I was reading my favorite comics and was living a life of a superhero in my imagination.

I always wanted to protect people who can’t protect themselves. That’s why I decided to become a policeman and it was the perfect time and place to strive for my childhood dreams. I graduated the National Police Academy with honors and a degree in law. During my service, I underwent further specialized training to include Military Instructor training and tactical use of weapons. After working as a National Police Officer for four years I was promoted to the rank of Captain. It was not enough for me, I was hugely disappointed by how things work. I made a decision to change my life, I moved to Los Angeles, California where I soon found myself branching off into the movie industry.

Today I am a Hollywood actor and stunt performer with more than 100 credits in movies and TV shows. I worked with Steven Spielberg‎ on “The Adventures of Tintin” and with Clint Eastwood on “American Sniper”. Last year I had a part in the Oscar-nominated film “Vice”. Now I’m running for President of SAG AFTRA.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Life has no smooth road for anyone, but I always was trying to steadier steps till the celebrity status, “over steep ways to the stars”. When I decided to leave my regular job and become a full-time stuntman and actor, it was a big financial struggle to be able to survive during the first couple of years, but I won this battle. During these times, stay true to who you are, remain focused on your desired goal and keep reaching for the legend. You keep on showing the world your dream. You can reach everything you want with love and passion. This year is one of the best years of my life, and I’ve never looked back. I’m blessed to be a member of LA’s stunt community and I look forward to have more acting parts in superhero movies soon. I love my life in the City of Angels where all dreams come true!

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
SAG-AFTRA honorably represents about 160,000 performers and media professionals in the United States. I’m a Union member since 2008. As an actor and a stuntman, I highly appreciate Union’s every step in fighting for our fair wages, safety on sets and our rights protection. During 11 years of my membership, I haven’t seen a diversity among candidates for official positions, as well as no new faces in headquarters. We reelect the same people and let them monopolize the power of decision-making. Now it’s time for new progressive and first-time candidates, it’s time for JUSTICE. This year I decided to become SAG-AFTRA president, I want to make Hollywood great again!

A report from industry analysis Digital TV Research suggests the amount of revenue lost to piracy has skyrocketed from US$6.7 billion in 2010 to nearly US$31.8 billion last year. The figure will hit nearly US$52 billion in 2022. I want us to win the war against Piracy! We will win the best future for the Union and for all professionals, we will gather Actors, Stuntmen, Artists who work in film and digital motion pictures, television programs, commercials, video games, productions, new media, television, radio news outlets and for label recording artists, Directors and Producers because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord. Our money won’t go to pirates’ pockets anymore. These money will increase our wages, residuals, create new jobs and movies, improve health insurance and make it more affordable, will refine retirement benefits and pensions, insurance against occupational hazard, will provide a respectable accommodation for all Union members.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I disagree with the statement “when people succeed, it is entirely because of their hard work”, luck is an easy way to success. Success doesn’t always happen gradually, even after your correct decisions and small victories in the film industry. People of careful planning, research, and great education are not always successful. I believe in the power of fortunes, sometimes you just get lucky. Luck can change your life forever. People can naturally have bad energy or good energy, so they attract good or bad luck. I’m a lucky man, without luck, many things may have turned out differently in my life. I always meet amazing people and they become my friends. I always in the right place and at the right time. I’m a hard worker too, I train hard to do dangerous stunts every day, I always attend different kinds of acting classes and work with my personal coach. I always do my best to become a better person.
