Meet Abigail Keenan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abigail Keenan.

Abigail, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started doing photography in high school. I did yearbook and started to photograph weddings and sports on my own. When I went to college, I knew I wanted to study something other than photography so I did journalism to learn more about storytelling. As I went to college, I continue to do a lot of freelance endeavors and meet different people in the sports marketing world. I always knew I wanted to do sports for it was where I saw the most organic stories and it was something that always intrigued me. I moved to LA a month after I moved not knowing what next. I did some contracted work with the Lakers and eventually got an internship doing social and editorial content. It’s been an absolute dream working with this team while doing some freelance jobs on the side. I love photographing the basketball world but also love taking on projects in numerous sports such as golf, skateboarding, soccer and surfing. Moving to LA has been the scariest most rewarding chapter of my life and I can’t wait to continue to learn and grow.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Here and there for sure. College was tricky because I knew I wanted to finish but it didn’t mean the world to me. I’m very grateful for the people I met and experiences I had and the opportunity to go but there are so many things they didn’t prepare me for. I’m very grateful I’ve always known what I’ve wanted to do with my career just tricky finding the right route in college to do so.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Abigail Keenan Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I’ve done freelance photograph for seven years and have loved being my own boss and seeing where it takes me. I’ve always known I wanted sports to be my main thread but have loved taking on whatever it gives me. I’ve done interior design photography, fashion, and portraits. At the end of the day though I love seeing the stories and people I meet within sports for I feel it feels the most authentic to me.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
With everything, it’s been really tricky. I do know that LA is the right place for me and if I’ve learned anything here it’s that people LOVE to help each other out. People and networking here continue to blows my mind because when I meet someone, I feel that they always want to help benefit you with someone else they know. It’s such a small web down here people love connecting and helping each other out it’s so refreshing.
