Today we’d like to introduce you to Abeer Shofani.
Hi Abeer, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am the owner and head trainer at No Bones About It Pet Care. I have over nine years of experience as a dog behaviorist and canine training, including relationship-building, socialization through play and pack walks. Equipped with strong intuition, clear communication, and professional knowledge, I have experience dealing with a spectrum of dog temperaments, energy levels, breeds, and ages. My specialties include training puppies and what we in the industry call “leash-reactive” and/or fearful dogs.
I consider myself a “forever student” in the field of dog behavior and psychology, attending workshops and training throughout the year held by preeminent leaders in this sector. My passion is fueled by my desire to help build relationships between my clients and their dogs so that their “language” and needs, both physical and psychological, are communicated to their owners so that they can lead happy and healthy lives.
I am a life-long dog lover and rescuer, including my own three dogs. I am the Foster Coordinator for Hounds and Heroes and often foster rescue dogs. After a series of life-changing events, while pursuing a music career in New York City, I adopted my first dog, Brooklyn, who subsequently changed my life and the lives of other dogs as my premier “helper” dog. When Brooklyn hit six months, he and I packed our things in 2013 and drove cross-country to Los Angeles, my hometown, and that was the beginning of No Bones About It Pet Care.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing in life comes easy however the challenges were necessary to learn and grow and I’m grateful for them. I think my biggest challenge was receiving support from various family members when I set off on the road to be my own boss. Many suggested I get a “real job” instead of working with dogs. I’d worked a 9-5 for the majority of my adult life and realized how much I wasn’t cut out to sit behind a desk for 8 hours a day. I had to choose what made me happy in a world where a lot of people are working jobs they hate. Even if it meant I wasn’t getting the support I needed. I’ve learned a ton from working with dogs and I’ve never looked back.
As you know, we’re big fans of No Bones About It Pet Care. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Teaching owners and their dog’s how to communicate and connect via play using dog behavior and psychology.
