Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaniya Bellamy.
Aaniya, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have a YouTube channel where I use the tag line, “YouTube don’t forget who’s poppin’!” One day after I made a video, I told my Dad I wanted to put “who’s poppin’“ on a shirt. My Dad agreed he thought it was a cool idea, so we tested it out. When we received the shirt back, I still really liked the tag, but I felt I could design the shirt better. After a few tweaks, I turned to the public for feedback, by wearing a few of the shirts while out and about with my parents. People actually complimented me on the designs and color schemes I chose. This was super exciting for me! It also brought the reassurance I needed to continue doing what I love; Making my own clothes and having people wanting to wear them, too. So I decided I wanted to start my own clothing line. Once I told my parents, they were very supportive in helping me with my research to find the best quality fabric manufactures in the country. I have spent over five thousand hours of researching and testing the best quality materials for my clothing line. To increase my customer base, I opened an Instagram account and started posting my clothes there for all to see. The response has been great! I look forward to growing the brand with my next goal making it into retail clothing stores.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest struggle I have had to face was finding the best quality for the clothes. I found there are a lot of manufactures out there that claim to have the best shirts until you really put them to the test of washing, fading, and shrinking. Once I found a manufacture that past all three tests at 100% I was on my way. Until I came across the obstacle of getting the brand out there so people can see it. Starting off on Instagram, I thought just post a picture and that was it, but after my first three days on Instagram, I realized I needed to make sure the pictures were perfect and the hashtags were relevant. Also I told myself I need to be on more social media sites if I want the world to know my brand. Since I have done that I am now working with a few celebrities that are wearing my clothes.

My business is a clothing company, and we specialize in T-shirts/tank-tops, sweater, and sweat suits. I am known for my high quality signature Who’s Poppin’ T’s. I would have to say as a company, I am most proud of turning a thought into a business and never letting the obstacles stop me from following my dreams/passion. When I think about what sets me apart from others, I would have to say apart from the quality I stand by, it would be the phrases and inspirational quotes I put at the bottom of the images on my shirts. I see in the future, there will be other clothing companies that will follow what I’m doing.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I have always liked a good laugh and playing a joke on my family and friends. I always like looking good when I leave the house. My parents have always told me that you can only make a first impression once, and that starts with your appearance. Before someone talks to you, the visual is what catches their eye. I started calling myself Miss Fashion at the age of 3 without really knowing that some day I would have a clothing line of my own.
