Life & Work with TLz

Today we’d like to introduce you to TLz.

TLz, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out in music in Gardena, California. I asked my dad for an interface and pro tools for my birthday and began experimenting. I ended up meeting a music executive that help propelled me toward other opportunities. I actually worked as his executive assistant, mostly learning the business side of music. I started moving around state to state eventually landing in Miami, Florida where I was introduced to a very big artist by way of a mutual friend.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Man smooth?? Lol, there’s nothing smooth about being an entrepreneur. It will always be a grind for financial freedom if it hasn’t already been established in your family. I never got into trouble with the law, minor situations but as far as business in this game is the most cutthroat, you just have to be on your toes. But as about as smooth as the Rocky Mountains. I have actually been through 6 different states away from home before actually getting into a groove and finding someone that believed in me like I believed in myself, which happened to be my dawg Lil Kim. She helped me hone in my skills and bring them to an industry level and quality that would propel me to do great things. Shoutout to Lace, Bryant McKinnie, Sata and my brotha Big Larry. They were instrumental in me actually meeting Kim. ; give credit where credit is due right! Kim bought me to a whole different level. From Award nominations to world tours, album featured mixtape appearances shows, I’ll tell you like this if you didn’t have any obstacles or challenges you won’t respect and appreciate what you have been blessed with.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a creative. I engineer, produce, songwrite, song, rap lol. I love the idea of a creation from nothing into something. What sets me apart from others is honestly I’m a one-stop shop, like Dream, Like Neyo, like Hitmaker. Extremely hands-on from start to finish of a project. I can say I enjoy producing other artists more than myself and that makes me a proud creative.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Man, my favorite books have always been Harry Potter stories. I enjoy the creative outlook on other worldly stories. Besides a few dictionaries here and there and some encyclopedias if we’re talking just reading material that I’m a fan of; J.K Rowland Got it! As far as Apps, probably the same as everyone; Instagram, Twitter, etc. although there is an app that I recently discovered called Prequel! It’s amazing you guys should try it!
