Life & Work with Tejai Moore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tejai Moore.

Hi Tejai, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began pursuing my career as an artist (singer and also rapper) during High School in Vilseck, Germany in 2002. I was 15 years old. Not until about 2008, 2009 did I get my first opportunity to work in the music industry. That opportunity was as a Songwriter for a well-known artist in London, UK at the time.

From there, God has continued to grow me as an Artist, as a Songwriter, and also now as a Producer internationally.

20 years later, I’ve now been invited to The Grammy Awards for the first time. I’ll be in attendance at the 64th Grammys April 3, 2022 in Las Vegas with my mom alongside. Every struggle, every hardship, every moment is worth it because I know that God has things like these planned for me on His timing as long as I keep Him first and keep sight of the Vision.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh no, not at all. The road has been full of bumps and turbulence. The struggles have included feeling overlooked, feeling under-appreciated and under-represented but I have kept Faith during my journey and I understand now that none of these things mean that I am under-Blessed. Not even a little bit.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am Singer, Songwriter, and also Producer for myself and also others. I’m grateful that I’ve never lost sight of the Vision that God bestowed upon my life and that I’m continuing in my Purpose’s journey through it all.

Humbly said, I feel what sets me apart is my Vision and choices. A lot of times, my choices aren’t for me and are more so geared towards others around me, but that’s also why I am Blessed.

Purpose and life, period, is about helping others and living for others not just yourself. So, I truly aim to live like that every day of my life even when it gets hard for me.

I’ve been Blessed to write and/or produce on records that has done very well internationally, and even in the midst of that I’ve never given up on lending a helping hand to artists and creatives who are more so at the beginning stages of their career. I treat it just the same as if I’m working with a Major Artist because I know one day many of them will be and maybe my help, however it is given, can be a stepping stone towards that for them one day.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
I would say growing up as I did. I’m from Miami but I was raised in Germany. My mom and also Dad were both in the Army. I love that I was able to learn and be exposed to different cultures. It helped my heart grow bigger than one location would allow.
