Life & Work with Shorty T

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shorty T.

Hi Shorty T, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am from New Orleans, LA and started writing music in my freshman year of high school. Once I mastered my style, things started to take off for me. I made a name for myself in my city but things changed in a major way after Hurricane Katrina hit us. After the storm, I ended up relocating to California. I never expected such a major life change like that. As far as my music was concerned, it was like starting all over. I ended up attending college once I moved to Cali which helped me to start building up my name again.

It’s been an incredibly interesting, challenging and rewarding journey being in L.A. Been through so many ups and downs but I’ve managed to achieve a lot in my career. I have now worked with and done shows with some of the biggest artists in the industry. Currently, I am releasing new songs every Friday for what I call #FrequencyFriday. I plan to continue this every week for an entire year. Shoutout to my producer/engineer Sammy Issac for always coming through to assist me in creating this music and fellow artists Marc Payne and Sirr Jones.

So far, my team and I have already hit the iTunes Charts a few times this year reaching as far as the Top 10 more than once. I plan on shooting a lot more visuals in the summer and want to continue to hit the charts with the new upcoming music. I plan to release an album this summer so be on the lookout.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey has been anything but smooth but it has always paid off when being consistent. A few years back, I was even dealing with homelessness for a while. That was very difficult to work through but I managed to get back on my feet after a while. It was a long while though, lol. I’d say over a year. I was determined to never give up though. Thankfully I’ve come a long way since then.

Another major struggle was losing a very close friend of mine who had some pretty deep ties into the industry. His name was Bob Hernandez. We were getting so much accomplished and had some big plans but they were cut short when he passed away a few years ago. That one hurt but I had to find a way to keep going.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As far as work, I do quite a few things. I’m a professional recording artist/songwriter, social media influencer, social media manager, crypto enthusiast, Forex trader and life coach. The music and social media keep me the most busy. Although I create my own music, I also help a lot of artists to reach levels they’ve never been able to reach on their own. Over the years, I’ve successfully helped many people grow online and with artist development. It feels good to help others especially after learning so much more about the business side of the industry that most don’t pay attention to.

I take pride in knowing that my music has its own sound. One of the biggest compliments I get from a lot of big artists after hearing my music is that I don’t sound like anybody. I love that feedback. It lets me know that I’m in my own lane and that’s what sets me apart from others. I am most proud of my ability to stay consistent no matter the situation. Giving up when things get hard always seems like an ok option but I’m glad I never chose that route. Staying strong when things got tough always pulled me out of a bad place.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Hmmm, that’s a good question. One of my favorite childhood memories was when I went camping in the mountains. I think it was in the 5th grade at the time. It was very interesting because I learned a lot on that trip and was able to experience new things such as archery and hiking. We stayed in the mountains for about three days. It also taught me how different it is to live in the wilderness than it is to live in a city. I remember having a blast the entire time.
