Life & Work with Sabrina Sweet

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Sweet.

Hi Sabrina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in the world of dance, I have always been passionate about health and wellness. Over countless hours of intense training, my love for the human body, its capabilities, and its purpose continued to grow.

There came a point in my dance career when I wanted to do more to help people. I went into massage school with the vision of providing deep tissue and sports massage for dancers and entertainers. During my schooling, I found a love for lymphatic massage. The quick and visually significant changes I saw it make to my client’s body and overall health were astounding. From that point on I planned to learn and educate myself on everything possible related to the lymphatic system.

When COVID and the shutdowns started occurring, I refused to stop seeing clients. I knew the positive impact that lymphatic drainage would have on people’s immune systems and mental health (which is what we all needed during that time). I wanted to be able to provide a safe place for clients to come, heal, and care for themselves. I had no intention at the time for this business to become what it has today. Truth be told, I didn’t even have a name for my business at the time!

Within 2 months of working out of my apartment, word had traveled and I found myself connecting with more clients looking to address their health needs through lymphatic drainage. Fast forward, a little over two years later, I now have two business locations: one in my hometown of Valencia, CA, and another in Los Angeles, specifically Melrose, CA.

These two years of growth and expansion have been the most amazing. My mission is to educate everyone on the importance of the lymphatic system, the benefits lymphatic massage has, and to continue to make a positive impact on the health and wellness of my community.

There are so many exciting things on the horizon and I cannot wait to share those with you as Miss Lymph continues to grow and expand.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Oh, I can write a whole book on the obstacles and challenges! (haha). There has most definitely been plenty of both. I think opening up a business in California, let alone for a younger woman who doesn’t come from any kind of money is definitely tough. They don’t make it easy, let me tell you.

There’s everything from financing, to legalities, to set boundaries, to budgeting, and so on. I feel that these are the kinds of things they should be teaching in high school now! So having to go out and learn this stuff on your own is definitely a challenge. There’s so much to learn about business in general, I will be forever learning (and growing).

There’s also the factor of realizing who your true friends and your support system are. This was hard for me to deal with as I feel that starting and growing this business has definitely pushed some people away. I started meditating a lot and manifesting how I had envisioned my life, and as I was doing so I realized that it was ok to move on from people who were holding me back or making me feel bad for wanting more.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in lymphatic drainage services. These services consist of lymphatic massage, lymphatic facials, detox body wraps, and more. The idea of these treatments is to push out the excess fluid and toxins from one’s body – doing this helps boost the immune system, helps reduce water weight, reduces inflammation, helps a range of motion, and flushes out toxins from the body post-surgery, and so much more!

Something I’m proud of and what I think sets me apart from others is that I come into these treatments with more of a medical standpoint. I can normally feel what’s going on in one’s body intuitively and can better address what it is they really need whether that’s getting a lymphatic massage or directing them to someone who I feel could better assist them! There’s only so much I can do as a massage therapist and my client’s health and well-being mean so much to me.

If I feel they need to heal their bodies a little more internally, I will recommend them to go see their doctor or better yet, a naturopath. I feel that everything stems from the gut, so once they have a little more knowledge as to what’s going on in their body, I can better assist them!

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Obviously all my clients!

They are all truly amazing humans, especially those who have been with me on this journey since the beginning. Also, my mom and sister are my rocks.

I couldn’t have done it without their love, help, and support. Also, my business mentor who helped me open my Valencia location… saw something in me and my vision, and for that, I am forever grateful.
