Life & Work with QB

Today we’d like to introduce you to QB.

Hi QB, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I haven’t always been a talented makeup artist, most of the time I was using my younger sister as a guinea pig for my “artistic expression.” Usually resulting in her looking like a clown, she will tell you I did it on purpose. Maybe! Just kidding. Makeup has been a hobby of mine for as long as I can remember. I remember my first makeup vanity as a child playing dress up, wanting to be like the women on tv. It felt empowering, putting makeup on and prancing around. Makeup is an art I fell in love with from then on. It’s just something about having a flawless glam that can make you feel like a million bucks. A feeling that on bad days a good highlight would alter whatever it was that had me in a funk. As women, it’s always important to uplift one another, especially in a world that does its best to try and bring us down. My love for makeup has never changed, however the motivation came from seeing results of my clients after I completed their makeup. They too felt that empowering and confident emotion that lead me to where I am today. Everyone deserves to look in the mirror and love whos looking back at them.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Sometimes the challenge is money or no time. For me, my struggle was self-sabotage, there were times that I thought my dreams were too big or out of reach. I had self-doubt, I would think to myself “well everyone is a makeup artist” or that my talent was regular. In full transparency once I decided that “yes there are other makeup artists, but there is no other me.” Overcoming this came with choosing to love who I am and implementing self-worth and knowing what I deserve, and executing it to the best I know how.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a celebrity makeup artist, I believe what I am known isn’t makeup at all. In fact, it’s the energy and the vibe I give with every client. Being beautified is an exciting and positive time. Every client that sits in my chair is going to laugh and enjoy their time with me. Negative vibes don’t exist around me. Positive vibes only! Yes, you’re going to look in the mirror at the end of it, but the joy and uplifting energy starts as soon as you walk in. You will always leave feeling confident and happy inside and out. I am an experience worth encountering.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned along the way is people will see your potential and your talents. It’s not until you believe in yourself fully that the dreams come to reality. You are your most powerful asset nurture it, respects it and perfects it. Love what you do and do it for you.
