Life & Work with Nicholas Jackson of San Gabriel Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Jackson.

Hi Nicholas, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been around music since day one. I began to play the drums at 9 years old. From there I played the tenor saxophone from 7th grade through 9th grade. My senior year of high school is when I wrote my first official rap verse in economics class. Throughout the years I simply just worked on my craft. Trying different sounds, cadences & beat styles. Enjoying the process of this journey is a must to be able to weather the storm.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Certain phases of my journey have been rough. I am grateful for every part of it because that’s what makes the story! I’m at a point in life where I try my best to find the silver lining in every situation. Even when it hurts, there’s something to learn once you unpack it all.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I go by the name of Fvstvction (fast action) I am a artist/creative. I make hip hop music. I specialize in something I call mood music. Simply just taking whatever emotion I feel at the moment or what I’ve experienced in the recent past and make the best song possible. I’m known for being able to give substance and still make a vibe that you can groove to. I’m most proud of my projects. Albums, EP’s etc. Having a narrative, and making a 10 song project surrounding it is crazy to me. Context matters. Versatility is what sets me apart. .Different genres and having the ability to sing and rap while both blending together.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Patience! To keep working even when the “light” isn’t on you at the moment.
