Life & Work with Juliet Lucas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliet Lucas.

Hi Juliet, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
When I was young, I always dreamed of performing on the silver screen: I loved the style, glamor and attention of the art of film. As I grew and started studying it more, I started to respect the history and power that cinema has to portray ideas, spread knowledge, and immortalize heroes. Now, I am studying and developing in my craft in Los Angeles. I wish to study all aspects of film and find a way to make it an experience that brings people, ideas, and stories together.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have faced many challenges, mostly of my own creation, in trying to develop into a confident filmmaker. COVID was a hit to my development, as it was to so many. However, I was able to find a creative solution. I dropped out of college and traveled to Montreal to work for a small filmmaking production company, collaborating with local Montreal filmmakers and learning a great deal about on-set and off-set production. Lockdowns kept me trapped and stopped my creative abilities: but finding this creative solution, a bubbled community where I could study and continue to grow, allowed me to gain new skills and incredible experiences.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a filmmaker. I work primarily in narrative work, both on the directing/producing side as well as the camera department side. I am most proud of my ability to bring creative people together under a common umbrella, to create something beautiful that showcases each individual’s talents. It is my dream to continue working and developing my skills and contributions to the cinema world.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
