Life & Work with Daniel Alarcon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Alarcon.

Hi Daniel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started when I was younger. I was a little band kid that joined in middle school and stayed with it all through high school. It took up seven years of my life and through that time, I was able to learn the drums, piano, and saxophone. My initial attraction to band was the desire to play the drums. I thought drummers were the most important and coolest. Throughout middle and high school, I learned that band was not the coolest class to be in. Little did I know that being in band makes you look nerdy. Regardless I stuck it out and as I got older, I loved it more and more. As my passion for music grew, I decided my sophomore year to start producing music on my computer. I remember following youtube tutorials learning how to make music every night. I would make a new song and then send it to all my friends to see what they thought. At first, everyone laughed at me and made fun of my music because it was terrible. Instead of getting discouraged, I decided to keep pushing and as time went on my music got better and better. I started to learn new tricks and apply them to my beats. Friends that used to make fun of me started to support me and grow an interest in what I was doing.

As time went on, I kept trying to sell beats online but realized that it was not going anywhere. I was broke with very little money left in my bank account and decided that no one great ever got where they were now without taking a risk, so I packed up my laptop and bought a ticket to New York. I used Instagram to message every rapper I could find that was in the city and just hoped that one of them would respond. Finally, I was able to get one of them to respond and I walked 100 blocks one way to the heart of Harlem to risk it all to show my music off to rappers. That day I was able to record multiple tracks with many different artists and it was the beginning of starting my name in music. Now I have taken my talent of music to LA where I am working with different artists in all different genres. I went from being made fun of to being supported by friends and many musical artists. Along with making music, I have been exploring my talents of modeling and acting. With multiple castings coming up for shows as well as movies.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been smooth at all. I have been always fighting uphill for everything I have. I’m used to being looked over and not being given the best opportunities in life. I have dealt with a lot in my life such as my mother fighting cancer as well as totaling my car and being blessed with being able to survive. I have been made fun of and laughed at for wanting to pursue something other than a normal 9-5. Even my own father doesn’t believe my dreams can come true and all I want to do is to prove every person wrong and show them that someday I will be great.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work on music and modeling most of the time. I used to work on beats for rappers but have recently shifted to making EDM music since I wanted to move to create a piece of music for myself with no one else having input on it. My workday consists of normally waking up and trying to go through samples to get some time of the idea of creativity in order to start a piece. Once I have found something that sounds good I start creating a piece around it. Sometimes I start with a vocal sample while other times just a piano or guitar riff. For the most part, I can make a piece in a week and have it completed. After it is all done I either send it off to someone to master or I attempt to master it on my own before deciding whether to release it or not. Sometimes if rappers need beats, I will take about 6 hours out of my day and create an entire pack for them and send it off hoping they like at least 1 of them. I think what sets me apart from others is that I won’t give up on this dream no matter what. I also am someone who has touched the bottom and once you hit the bottom the only way is up. I think what I’m most proud of is my determination and constant push to get me to the next level. I have this want and ambition to prove everyone that doubted me wrong.

What’s next?
My future plans are to someday tour around the world djing and playing music for people from all different parts of the world. I’m planning to have my debut song come out sometime in 2022 where it will be a softer EDM style that is about losing love and hoping to someday find it again. I have been working on this piece for a long time but have held off on dropping it since I want to make sure I can make it perfect before launch.
