Life & Work with Clari

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clari.

Hi Clari, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From the time I was diagnosed with my autoimmune disorder at 19 years old, I began to dive into the study of Women’s Health. Naturally, I wanted to know how I could improve my health and what factors lead to me developing the condition. The symptoms of my condition were extreme skin sensitivity to the sun resulting in first and second-degree burns, joint pain, abdominal pain, hair loss & extreme fatigue. It was very challenging and depressing. At times, I had to stay inside for long periods and forgo social activities with my friends. As a young adult, I felt alone and often wondered what my future would be like. Over the years, I purchased many books, took classes and saw many doctors both traditional and Holistic (Acupuncturists, Iridologists, Nutritionists, Therapists, Herbalists). What I came to understand was there were factors out of my control that contributed to my health challenges, but there was also a LOT still in my control. I found that the best approach for me was understanding and implementing things that my doctor told me to do, like taking a low dose medication while incorporating equal amounts of Natural Holistic treatments. I became obsessed with health education.

In my spare time, I watched health documentaries and took classes, all in effort to understand my own health. I began to understand the link between what I was eating and how it was affecting my health. When I made positive changes in my diet, I would go to the doctor and watch as my numbers dramatically improved! I was able to see an improvement in most of my symptoms as well. This arose in me a sense of health hypervigilance, and I wanted to help others like me who had challenges. One thing I learned over my journey was that those with more money we’re able to take classes and purchase items that I wanted to take but could not afford to. It is a shame, but those like myself who were the children of single moms and had a measure of income limitations as young adults often wanted coaching but simply could not afford it. I wanted to play a part in changing that narrative. Most recently, when the pandemic began, due to being a new mom, I had to make some shifts in my career. I walked away from a career as an in demand multimedia hair & makeup artist working on set’s here in LA. It was an interesting shift and with the support of my incredible husband, I was able to do it. I am glad I was able to do it because I decided to use the opportunity to become a stay at home mom, but I also wanted to use my free time to pursue my passion for health education. I decided I would study to become a certified Nutrition & Health Coach with Precision Nutrition. I received an industry-leading scientifically driven education and learned so much! It taught me key principles of health that I had never read before and how to help others implement change. The changes are the hard part, but we can do it! Now I am excited to be coaching an amazing group of women!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes, I had a demanding work schedule where I often skipped meals and worked long hours, all things that are horrible for your health.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What I am humbled and excited about is during the pandemic, I started a Women’s podcast! https://workitladypodcast.com/ On my podcast, I share Interviews with experts in Women’s Health, Motherhood, Mental Health and small business owners. I also share product reviews and tips all ladies can benefit from. In addition to my podcast, my affordable group coaching memberships really make me feel like I am trying to do my best to help women who want to take control of their health but have limited finances. I am so energized and excited about the new path I’m on!

What were you like growing up?
I was always people-loving, fun-loving and nature loving.
