Life & Work with Chutiya (A.K.A. Dara) Vailom

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chutiya (A.K.A. Dara) Vailom.

Hi Chutiya (A.K.A. Dara), thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Since I was young, I’ve always been interested into artistic expression.

About a year after I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture from my home country of Thailand, I moved to Los Angeles seeking new horizons.

This City of Angels introduced me to the large profession of Nail Art.

What I love about this art form is that people expose their character and taste through the designs that they select. At times people follow seasons and trends, but they ultimately bring out their own emotions.

With my talent and knowledge, I’m always glad to help my clients express their character & emotions.

In the beginning, it wasn’t as easy as I thought. Working with nails involves more than just applying colors & designs onto nails.

It is also about providing attentive human interaction, personal care, and a healthy quality product that my clients can wear with pride & joy.

In 2019, I got the opportunity to work with Color Camp near West Hollywood, from which I learned and improved my skills through their mentorship.

I will always appreciate Color Camp for that opportunity, which helped me become a better nail artist overall.

I’m currently working at Paint Bar near Culver City, which has helped me improve on techniques & methods of applying high-quality products that can help nails last longer & be less susceptible to damage.

At the end of the day, I’m continuing to learn new things everyday. My profession is a career that brings happiness to my life, which I’m glad to share with my clients. Making my clients walk out happy with quality work is what’s important & what I strive to achieve in every session.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. To add to what I mentioned in my story, the Nail Art profession is extremely competitive, so it’s important that I improve my skills, methods & techniques on a daily basis. Another big challenge is making everyone happy, since as we all know, once in a while there are clients that are hard to work with & hard to please. Either way, at times it’s just a matter of maintaining focus.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a nail artist. I do all nail care services, manicures, pedicures and all nail extension techniques. Currently, I focus on hard gel extensions. I also specialize with gel manicures and help clients grow healthy nails by applying the proper process.

When completing a service, it brings me great joy to see when my clients walk away with nails that make them feel beautiful and confident.

When clients return for service, I’m also proud to see that their nails are growing longer & healthier.

Overall, I’m most proud of providing professional service with great attention to detail.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
“You can never stop learning.” “There’s always room for improvement.”

“I can’t make everyone happy, but I can always complete professional work.”
