Life & Work with Cameron Smart

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Smart.

Hi Cameron, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I made my way from music city USA (Nashville TN) to Los Angeles just months before the pandemic hit. From the moment I left my hometown, it has been a nonstop adventure full of excitement, thrills, Close calls, and discoveries. I brought with me all my belongings in a super cool RV, my pet pig, and just enough cash to make it out west. When I got here, I landed an awesome job making good money as an art instructor but covid shortly ended that high. Nothing has come easily but it has all been an adventure nonetheless. In this day and age, true adventure is hard to come by so I take every day as it comes and keep moving. Although I’m looking for a consistent roll, I can sink my teeth and I have made some great relationships and had some awesome opportunities working with some huge names in the design industry. I will continue my expiration until I am in a roll, I can truly share all my creativity and experiences. If you need compelling design work- contact me!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’ll for starters. The second gas station I stopped at- just outside of Tennessee my Mobile home would not start after it was turned off to get gas. This pattern continued all the way until I arrive at Los Angeles. There was hours we would be stuck at random gas stations but meeting all sorts of walks of life along the way. Although it was very inconvenient it was a nice acclamation of what was to come, proving close mouths don’t get fed and nobody will hand you the life you want you must make it for yourself.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a designer. I’ve designed in both corporate and freelance positions. I am often requested for photo editing web design, print design, and branding. I especially enjoy typography, photo manipulation, branding, print design, and web content/graphics. I worked as a full-time senior visual designer for an E-commerce company, prior to the pandemic and have had the fortune to work with numerous brands, artists, & companies. Some of my past clients include CMT, Mellow Mushroom, Kari Wahlgren, Harrison Ford, Dominic Monaghan, Sara Cravens, and more.

I am very creative and work hard to push my boundaries as a designer, constantly learning new techniques and programs. I came from an entrepreneurial background and am often in a self-relent role which can be scary but it’s up to me whether I sync or swim and I like it like that.

Most recently I worked as a full-time designer, creating Amazon Listings for a USA top 5 seller. In my role, I was responsible for creating all visual assets, photographing products, and listing for Amazon/ E-commerce design. Currently, I’m in search for a similar role that has longevity.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I think risk-taking is healthy and everyone should do it in their younger days. Usually, the greater the risk the bigger the reward so I heard any and everyone in a position to take a risk if the outcome can put them closer to where they ultimately want to be because if you don’t you will spend the rest of your entire life wondering “what if”. For me, this question is what pushed me to move to Los Angeles because I was in a position to make the move (even if it was not an easy move) and wanted to know the answer of what slide out in Los Angeles for myself. Having loose expectations makes the experience but much more richer because everything that happens good is awesome and everything that happened is bad it’s just a necessary evil to leveling up
