Today we’d like to introduce you to Arnie Woods.
Hi Arnie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I always loved music but never considered producing for a career until high school. Everyone told me I was crazy at the time but I knew what I wanted so I went for it. I got accepted into an arts school in Florida and graduated when I was 19 then immediately moved to LA.
After a year of networking, I decided the best place for me to be was in the studio. So I became a studio runner and within a month of me working, I started to get placements with major artists. Fast forward two years later and I’ve been fortunate enough to work on projects with Polo G, Desiigner, Smokepurrpp, Juice WRLD and many others. I’m currently executive producing an album and my own artist project.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road, I moved to L.A with very little money and just ended up making jobs work. I’d take PA gigs and part-time jobs wherever I could get them for the first year until I landed a studio internship.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’d say I specialize in making sounds into better sounds. I think the majority of my job especially when working with other rappers or artists is making sure the energy is right and the human element is covered first. Sometimes people forget that we’re all human and start to overthink everything when to me the best records come without warning or anticipation.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Just try things, no commitment. Just do everything you possibly can without fear of repercussion or rejection. There’s no wrong moves, and nobody has anything figured out so absolutely follow your instinct.
