Life & Work with Alejandra Farias

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandra Farias.

Hi Alejandra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I moved to LA in Jan 2020 to start a certificate of Business at UCLA extension. I’ve been always involved in the fashion industry back in Mexico and after six months of living in LA, I started an internship with Gladys Tamez Millinery, I worked as an assistant and stylist on her collections’ photoshoots. On February 2021, I started a podcast with my roommate called “Derrumbando el Muro”, where we share the personal stories of successful Latin people of all industries that are currently living, working and/or studying in the US. In March 2021, I joined with a friend and her brand to start a collection of clay jewelry named “Tocaya de Maga x Ale Farias” which has been a pretty cool project that has helped me grow my creativity. Two months after finishing my certificate, I got a job as a Project Manager at ARI JOGIEL, a full package company where we help entrepreneurs to start their own fashion brand. Currently, I still have my two personal projects and I’m working on creating my own brand while I have my full-time job as a project manager.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
After two seasons of my podcast and being able to listen to many stories from people that came from other countries, I realized that it has been a pretty smooth road for me and luckily everything happened and it’s happening just as I expected. I’ve met people who have struggled with their own paths and this is what I feel so grateful of being able to achieve my goals in LA without any struggle on the way. Having a visa or a permit to work is always something difficult due that you have some limitations but I’m pretty lucky of being able to work on the fashion industry that is one of my passions while I continue with my Podcast and Jewelry.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My full-time job is in the fashion industry, I work as a Project Manager on a full package company where we help entrepreneurs to build their own fashion brand from scratch. My personal project is my podcast named “Derrumbando el Muro” where we share stories of successful Latin people from every industry who live work/study in the US.

What does success mean to you?
For me, success is being able to do what you love the most (personally and professionally) even if that means going out of your comfort zone.
