Hi Veela, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Born and raised in Cleveland, I’ve always had a love for the arts, including fashion, music, film, etc. I’m in love with the idea of artistic expression; it has always been my aesthetic. My roots are in Hip hop and Funk music culture, therefore a lot of fabric choices as well as my style and design come from that. My experience ranges from being a seamstress, stylist, and costume designer assistant for different people in the industry; It was fun helping make other’s vision come to life. I truly enjoyed the process from beginning to end because it’s like telling a story through clothing with no words. Currently, I’m on the path of presenting who I am as a Designer by showing a new collection this year and bringing everyone along as I transition in my journey.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been easy, I believe with anything in life you can persevere even through the rain. Although, in my life, there were minor setbacks I had to trust the process.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a Fashion Designer specializing in Streetwear, my vision was making masks for people during this pandemic which was a great accomplishment for me; it helped ground me to never forget where I came from. I consider this one of my proudest moments as a designer and a citizen. The one thing that sets me apart from others are places I draw inspiration from and how I display my vision through the use of film to better articulate my inspirations.

What does success mean to you?
I think success is living your truth in life, learning and growing while doing your best to remain consistent at what you love with passion.
