Life and Work with Trina Gutierrez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trina Gutierrez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Trina. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my career in the beauty industry in 2014. I attended makeup school and esthetician school at the same time because I knew this was my destiny. It was about more than beauty for me, it was about feeling amazing as women! It was about loving yourself.

I was very fortunate to really be able to explore the different areas being a makeup artist, then esthetician. I went from fashion shows to private makeup events to working in different salons. Eventually, I found myself coming together with a friend from makeup school to work at Mimis Glam Room. It was brief, but then our paths crossed again. I am currently primarily working as a lash artist for my company La Vida Glam (@theglamac) in Ontario, CA. I am also a lash instructor at Mimis glam room.

Has it been a smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? I wish I can say yes! But no it has been a bumpy road. Being an entrepreneur is harder than having a job, working for “the man.” I am a proud mother of two (ten & seven), so having to be a mom and be active in my business comes with a lot of work. I do it all for my children. They are the next generation and the way today’s world is, new expectations and new ways of living, well, I take my role very seriously as a beauty professional as well as a role model to my kids and the public. It’s NOT impossible to be an active Mom and a full-time entrepreneur.

My advice is to NOT give up. Be prepared to work hard, to have good and bad days. You can do whatever you set your mind to! Stay organized, stay positive. And surround yourself with strong positive, uplifting people.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Mimis Glam Room – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
By title, I am a licensed esthetician and certified makeup artist. I’ve been in the industry since 2013. 2014 is when I got my esthetician license and makeup certificate. I specialize in eyelash extensions and makeup.
You can find me on Instagram @theglamac.

I am most proud of who I am as a beauty professional. I strive to educate my clients or anyone who visits my social media accounts. I love to empower beauty from within and loving yourself for who you are. Being able to express yourself with makeup, lashes, clothes, food anything that inspires you.

I like to think what sets me apart from others is my passion to deliver good into the world thru clients.

Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
The biggest barriers today to females would be being looked at in the entrepreneur world as people who can’t handle what comes with having your own business. As the days, weeks, months, years that go by, we see more and more female bosses! As long as we strive to be strong support each other, we can break down these barriers together!
