Life and Work with Shruti Tiwari Agnihotri

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shruti Tiwari Agnihotri.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Shruti Tiwari. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I had heart palpitations coming through when I recognized I have to leave my whole world behind in India and move to the States after getting married. Everything moved at the speed of light. The whole process of transitioning here, farewell in my previous organization, the wedding vows, all the protocols – I’ve made sure to acclimatize with surprises of life in every efficacious way. I toiled around five years in the Investment Banking domain in India and was smitten with my last organization. I was a little cube of ice when I comprehended that my visa restrictions will not permit me to work in States and this change is going to hit the normalcy of my life. The thought of being together with my husband – is what made the transition easy. We will have each other, in a really fundamental way was the priority.

I kick-started exploring options to make myself busy here and internet left me heartbroken and crestfallen because I only fetched negative news, blogs, posts, videos, communities cursing H-4 Visa and how it makes your life hell. For a second, I felt the universe has slammed the door right on my face. However, another second I accepted that this was my decision and I will not fall apart by any harsh ball thrown in my court. This trend should be broken and positive aspect of this legal restriction should be rendered outside the world. This realization allowed me to be more free and creative. It has empowered me to find joy and express every aspect of who I am. This was the opportunity to learn new things and live for my passion rather than breathing for a job to pay bills. Social Media is such a crazy place which I am still learning about. It helped me in curating my love for Insta blogging, writing travel blogs, poetry, photography, videography, and endorsements.

Instagram helps in integrating all the passions and the major takeaway is having a friendship with people all over the world. There are so many inspiring people from every domain who motivate me to live my dream. I am grateful for a lot of women who feel positive and encouraged by my content and cheer me to do better. Therefore, there is no option of cursing any situation – where there is a will, there is a way!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle was being apprehensive because there are people who try to pull you down by comparing, passing judgments and defining you by their restricted mental power. I am still learning and getting poised in overcoming such challenging situations. All the names that you are called by others and yourself are mere labels. You are not defined by anyone how much ever laudatory or disparaging they are. One thing which defines you is authenticity, being genuinely what your heart is, rather than parodying the image in the eyes of public of their choice. Acknowledging my madness gives the way of living rather than hiding them as peculiarities. I feel most revolutionaries are successful because they embraced their own distinctiveness. Honoring the life and every moment by not laying it to waste is crucial for a happy life. I am continually striving to enhance these dimensions of life. After all, capitulating your happiness for an idea that you used to have about yourself is not true anymore!

Everything depends on your perception as imagination is the true magic carpet and the fact is that no phase in life is constant. This too shall pass! My favorite way to overcome any extreme situation is by feeling grateful for things I already have in life. Counting blessings work wonders I believe, more I focus on finer things in life, more I attract positive things from the cosmos. It helps in transmuting wounds into wisdom. Here, I quote what Oprah Winfrey says,” The single greatest thing you can do to change your life today would be to start being grateful for what you have right now.”

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am just centering on being myself. I love to bestow my positivity, happiness, contentment, acceptance, lifestyle and travel through blogging. Converging to interlace more with my community this year. Social media gives an astounding opportunity to motivate and be inspired by others. I will steadily work to be more authentic and crafty with my content. Uprightly, I am still waiting for that moment which I feel I will be proud of. I am striving to learn what keeps my community inspired.

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
Uprightly, no one technically mentored me throughout the run. However, there are some strong women in my community who keep encouraging me to get going and I reckon that works for me. Nichiren’s Buddhism, practices and chanting give tremendous strength to me.
