Life and Work with Nyeesha D. Williams and Elijah James Jr.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nyeesha D. Williams and Elijah James Jr.

Five years ago; Nyeesha D. Williams moved to Los Angeles, CA to pursue her life’s passions. Within these five years, she learned that consistency, sacrifice, and resilience were three practices she needed in order to move mountains in her community and abroad. After opening up her third all-girls school in L.A (two are in Africa), she begins touring and speaking to women about living in their truth. There was still something missing in her life, but she couldn’t figure out what it was. Towards the end of 2017; Nyeesha and a long-time friend of hers by the name of Elijah James Jr. (Also known as EJ) grew closer after Elijah sought out for Nyeesha’s counseling and coaching services.

Elijah (EJ) is a Police Lieutenant with over 20 years of experience. EJ knew that tackling the misconceptions of what it was to be a “real” cop, (a black male cop), navigating in his personal life, and showing up for his community it was time for him to focus on his own self-care.

Today, Elijah & Nyeesha has created a multi-faceted platform where the inspirational stories and experiences of Black and Brown people can be highlighted while cultivating change in their communities. Being as though Elijah has worked law enforcement for such an extended period of time and Nyeesha being a health and wellness advocate for Millenials and such; they both knew it was time to create a safe space where dialogue could be initiated with hopes to bridge the gap between law enforcement and community.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No Ops Podcast was started as a “passion project” because the two knew or believed this sort of platform was greatly needed but didn’t know if people would listen. With Nyeesha traveling and Elijah stationed across the country the difficulty of creating content, building awareness, reaching out to community activist and LAPD, they knew they had their hands full, but at what cost? Elijah would probably share with everyone at this point to push through FEAR while Nyeesha would softly tell everyone to listen to their gut. Regardless of the perceived adversity, the two knew this show needed to be on the road.

Only a few weeks into production and these two professionals have already been featured on national news broadcasting, under social media features for new businesses to look out for and due to all the downloads, they are shy of a few listens from the “Note & Worthy” page.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Nyeesha D. Williams is successful Life & Business Coach, Author, Women’s Wellness Advocate, Speaker and now Podcast Host.

Elijah James Jr is a well respected Supervising Lieutenant of over 20 years, A Husband, Father, Son, and loving Brother.

Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
If someone would have asked Nyeesha what were the biggest barriers to female leadership some years ago, she would have probably given a very long list of things, but she has learned the importance of alignment, the power of women as a whole and now truly believes that barriers are first presented in the mind.
