Life and Work with Mayra and Gaby Garcia-Tarin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mayra and Gaby Garcia-Tarin.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Mayra and Gaby. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I (Mayra) worked for the airlines about eight-ten years ago and was able to become really familiar with the travel industry. I started to book travel arrangements for some frequent travelers I met and then for friends and family. About three years ago, I decided to share the information I knew on a social platform where everyone can access it. I wanted to share our travel itineraries, tips and suggestions but also the fare finds I came across so that people are also able to book awesome flights and have their own experiences. I want people to travel more often and use Suzzstravels as a resource for all travel related things. That’s where Gaby (my sister) came into the picture. She’s my model most of the time, my assistant in setting up meetups and group travels and wears multiple other hats. Together, we continue to expand our travel community.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t always been smooth there’s always bumps along the road but that’s part of the journey to get to your destination. Sometimes, it can be very challenging to find the motivation to continue to create and share content because you feel like it may not be serving its purpose. There have also been times where you get discouraged when you see others taking your work and not giving you the credit for it. However, we get those random messages/e-mails from someone letting us know how much we helped them during their trip or how we inspired someone to take that first solo trip, etc. and it puts everything back into perspective for us. Those messages continue to give us the motivation we need to remember why we started this to begin with.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with SuzzsTravels – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
We are a travel blog that helps people by enabling them to travel more often in a hassle free way. All the information we share is aimed to simplify the travel experience. It can be very confusing for someone to try to plan a trip and figure out what travel documents they’ll need, what if any, travel converters and currency they’ll need and so forth. People turn to our blog and social media pages for those answers. We also share the price dips in fares we come across, destination ideas, restaurant finds and reviews, tips, tools and resources we have found useful and so much more. I think that’s what really sets up apart from other travel bloggers, we aren’t just showing you where we go we are also trying to help you go there yourself.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
We live by google.com/flights and Expedia. These are the two websites we check on a daily basis, it’s like our morning paper. Of course, there’s other websites we also check but the main two are definitely those.
