Life and Work with Maricruz Dominguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maricruz Dominguez.

Maricruz, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Life can take you through so many stages, from career, health and your overall goals in life. When I was younger, I remember watching America’s Next Top Model, and not just watching it but taking notes on what tips the judges would give the models from poses to face expression. We had a very long hallway in our home where I would practice my runway walk in my mom’s heels, I seriously loved it and had my mind set on being a model. During career day in middle school, they asked me what I wanted to do and I responded that I am going to be a model, she laughed and said no really what do you want? A couple of days later, I had an appointment with a modeling agency in Beverly Hills, we didn’t go through with that specific agency but I knew ever since I wanted to model.

Years later, life happened and paused modeling. I later got introduced to an amazing business where I’m currently working which is completely not about modeling but financial services. I help families be properly protected, debt free and financially independent. Currently, have been with the company about four years now and love it.

On my 22nd birthday, I did a photo shoot, and after that day, I fell back in love with photography/modeling, when I posted those pictures on my social media, so many photographers contacted me and were able to do my first paid shoot EVER. Modeling is so much more than pictures but every shoot can tell a different story.
Life is about doing what you love and modeling is definitely that as well as helping families with my other business in order to also leave a legacy for my family.

Today, I’m working as a financial representative and a freelance model, I’m excited for what’s to come and my goal is to always be doing something that I love and makes me happy regardless of what that looks like to others.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been an easy road, like in many different businesses it gets tough. You get No’s, you get rejected over and over, you get chargebacks, you get negativity, you get made fun off, it gets slow, etc. You’ll get so many bumps in the road, it’s not meant to be easy or else anyone would be doing it. Look at it as a hill, anything automatic is downhill. It’s bound to happen and you don’t really need to put much effort into it BUT to go uphill you need to be intentional. You need to push hard, keep going, put in the effort or else you’ll go downhill fast. The beauty about pushing through the steep hill is you’ll reach the top and the view is great from the top. A lot of people give up in the middle of a steep hill, where it gets hard. That’s where your journey truly begins, where you decide to keep going or quit, always keep going because you’ll get there eventually instead of quitting and wishing what could’ve been.

Please tell us about your work.
I work in financial services, I help families with their debt, retirement and be properly protected. I also share the same opportunity to others in order to increase their income and eventually become financially independent.

I’m definitely proud to represent this great business because we truly do what’s 100% right for families, so when I sit with someone who is hurting financially, then I’m able to step in and help them.

My modeling career is fresh , I’m all about seeing what’s my style, what type of modeling am I best at, I’m so proud of myself for just going after this and getting out of my comfort zone not by doing shoots but actually talking about this new chapter in my life which is very exciting.

Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
I believe your experiences take a huge role in your future and how you let it impact you or affect you. Growing up, we weren’t wealthy but also was never in need of a roof over our head or food in our stomach which I’m extremely grateful. Though we were not struggling, I wanted more. I knew deep down, I would do something great in life not 100% sure of what but I knew I wanted to be successful and give my parents the amazing life they deserve.

My experience is tough sports and working at the age of 16 gave me an incredible work ethic. I would go from school to wrestling practice or from school straight to work, I was the only in one of my senior class to have a job. I worked for what I had at that age which a lot of kids these days don’t work for. Working in fast food at an early age made me realize I wanted more and need to do more in order for my future kids to have better options, that’s when I joined the financial service business and currently, still working on building something bigger. My work ethic and ambitions definitely came from that and are what has allowed me to be where I’m at, which again is nowhere near the end result but I’m on my way. Slowly but surely, we’ll get there because quitting has never been an option in anything I do.
