Life & Work with Marcus Harmon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Harmon.

Hi Marcus, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, lived in Georgia with my family as a teen and moved to New York at 17 for entertainment opportunities. I am located in New York City and travel to Los Angeles often. I am an actor, singer and playwright living in New York City (Brooklyn).

I have written multiple plays, background television work and recently had a supporting role in my first full-length feature film in the movie musical entitled Ode To Passion, which recently debuted on Amazon Prime. I also spent a decade as the lead singer of the popular pop band Mickey Cupid. Also, I am a playwright and my debut play was accepted into the NY Theater Festival for 2021.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely had some rocky moments. Anything worthwhile in life has tough moments. Moving to New York and pursuing entertainment at 17 made me grow up very fast it also made me realize how hard I had to work to create the things that were in my mind. There are struggles of wanting to make reality the dreams you held as a child and the cataclysm of when real-life changes your perception. If you stick to it then eventually things will start to happen and your dreams will become true. The real struggle is in giving up, giving up means nothing will ever happen.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an actor, singer/songwriter / and playwright. I am most proud of music as a songwriter and singer. My pop band Mickey Cupid. We have made music for Victoria Secret and BMW. My first full-length play entitled EDIN was accepted into the NY Theater Festival.

What’s next?
I am now on my 5th play. I have new music coming out this month. A big change and inclusion into my creative Universe is the fashion line I started early on during quarantine. My Mother passed away in April of 2019. She was a fashion designer and meant the entire world to me. I wanted to find a way to honor her and I created this fashion line in her honor. For 2021 this is definitely one of my main focus, along with my singing and acting. Take a look here and let me know if you want anything. You’ll get the family and friends discount. Vaught NYC
