Life and Work with Manuela Mazzocco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Manuela Mazzocco.

Manuela, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and grew up in Venice, Italy. I now live with my family in Pacific Palisades. I started my blog a few years ago to share my passion for Italian food.

I’ve always loved cooking and photography. And I really love talking about fun dishes and recipes. My friends know well that I can talk about food for a long time!

Cooking is fun because it’s a creative experience. I like to search, explore and experiment with new recipes all the time. I like to find the time to prepare a homemade dinner for my family because sharing a meal with my loved ones is an Italian tradition that I find very important. There is nothing as special as ending your day with your family or friends sharing a good conversation and a tasty homemade meal.

With my blog, I hope I can inspire and convince, at least some of my followers, that with not much time, some love and a good appetite they can to prepare amazing dishes.

Has it been a smooth road?
Creating my blog has been incredibly fun… but also a lot of work!

Each post takes quite a bit of time to create, every step of the way. From coming up with a recipe idea to the actual cooking or baking. From video shooting, step-by-step pictures and final (hopefully, mouthwatering and inviting) food pictures. And let’s not forget the countless minutes spent editing videos, writing, posting, sharing and interacting with my followers on social media.

All this work for no or little earning … at least at first!

It sounds discouraging and it can really be especially at the beginning. It’s not easy to create an audience and find people who actually read your posts (…that’s not your mom or BFF) and try out your recipes.

My words of advice: don’t give up… if that’s what you really love doing.

There will be a point in which people will start noticing and following, trying your recipe and sending you a nice comment and picture of how good it all came out. All, thanks to you! And that will pay off all your hard work.
In my case, shortly after I started my YouTube channel, one of my recipe went viral. Have you seen the rose-shaped apple dessert, made with apple slices rolled up in puff pastry and baked to look like a pretty flower?!? My recipe traveled all over the world, from the US to Australia and Russia. It reached two million views in the first week. It has been posted and shared in several well-known magazines, websites, tv and radio shows. Truly AMAZING!

It was maybe pure luck or just a pretty picture of an attractive and cute dessert… I will never know what actually happened. What I do know is that in a short amount of time from a few hundred to tens of thousands of new fans all over the world. This, of course, gave me the inspiration and strength to continue and improve with what I love doing. Create more fabulous recipes, keep on improving on my skills, share and engage more with my readers.

Show them my passion for what I do and allow my personality to be part of what I create. At least, that’s what I hope to achieve with my weekly posts.

So, if you are planning to start a blog to share your passion with the world, go ahead and give it a try. With some effort and perseverance, a little luck and a lot of passion, it’s all possible!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Cooking with Manuela – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I started my blog by writing all about Italian recipes, what I usually cook for my family. From appetizers to pasta dishes to mouthwatering desserts. Over time, I expended to other things I like to cook, and especially bake.

What all my recipes have in common?! They are all made from scratch, with video, step-by-step instructions and pictures that show you what you need to do.

My posts show how to get a recipe done as if I’m teaching one of my boys or someone that has never baked before, walking you along the steps from start to finish.

My video recipes are short and to the point. In only a couple of minutes, you can learn how to make the best lasagna you’ve ever tasted, the most scrumptious mozzarella in Carrozza or perfectly crunchy Italian biscotti.

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Don’t give up! If it’s really your passion, don’t stop just because it’s hard.

It takes a lot of hours of work and maybe some luck, but it’s all possible!
