Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorena Taboas.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised in Miami to a Cuban mom and Spaniard dad. My family was always on the go and exploring was part of our routine. When I became a mom, I knew I wanted to raise my son the same exact way: surrounded by culture and immersed in adventure.
Motherhood also helped me rediscover my passion for writing. I’ve worked as a producer at Univision for 10 years, mostly covering empowerment topics such as education and health. And when I became pregnant I was given the opportunity to blog for Univision’s parenting site on the daily struggles and happenings of a new mom.
New opportunities lead us to move across the country to LA where I decided to continue documenting how fun and adventurous motherhood really is on my own blog, lorenaobvious.com. I didn’t want it to be a journal or venting platform, but more a motivating tool to help parents get out there and do things with their kids. There so much to do and see!
I’m now producing Univision’s midday newscast across California. But work and life never get in the way of searching for new places to go and planning things to do as a family around LA.
Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest challenge I have faced has been balancing a full-time job, motherhood and blogging as much as I’d like to. But the same way I take care of my son, I have to take care of myself and discover my own passions. When I became a mom, I didn’t ignore what I wanted to accomplish in life, I simply incorporated my son into my routine and bring him along for every adventure.
Having a routine, a strict daily routine, is key to balancing all of your responsibilities. Write down your goals, review them weekly and do not let them fall through the cracks. Don’t let anything get in the way of creating and cultivating your dream life.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with @lorenaobvious – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I’m a mom, producer and mom blogger. I’m most proud of not being complacent. I think a lot of women who become moms, or even people who land their dream job, let themselves get tied up in those responsibilities and never look outside of those roles to grow even more.
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Have a routine, a strict daily routine, to balance all of your responsibilities. Write down your goals, review them weekly and do not let them fall through the cracks. Don’t let anything get in the way of creating and cultivating your dream life.
