Life and Work with Kim Huynh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Huynh.

Kim, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I remember my passion for makeup evolving at a young age. Yes, I love beauty products and the newest beauty trends just as much as any girl does — however, it goes much deeper than that. I always felt at my happiest and most powerful when I was able to live my dream as an artist. My biggest motivation to follow my dream and passion would have to be my 3-year-old daughter Mila and my devotion to give her the most amazing life I can offer her. She was truly an amazing angel and it pushed me past limits and obstacles I didn’t know I can fight through. Following my dreams made life worth living and more. I realized no one was going to follow them for me so I decided to put all my energy and commitment to giving me the life I truly wanted.

After I graduated high school, my first job that introduced me to the beauty industry was Sephora. I felt so happy to be given the opportunity to connect with other individuals who had the same love for makeup as I did. What made me even happier was to be able to empower and connect with my clients at the same time. A few years later, I decided it was time for me to move on to the next biggest stepping stone of my life, which was becoming a Freelance Artist for Chanel Cosmetics and building my own business and brand for myself. This journey was definitely not an easy one to get to where I am but it was definitely worth the struggles. Women are leaders everywhere you look — from the housewife who raises her children from the CEO who runs a million dollar company. Every single woman deserves to be given a chance to prove their capabilities. Find who you are in this world and what you need to feel good alone. I think that’s the most important thing in life. Find who you are in this world and what you need to achieve to feel good alone. That’s the most important thing in life. Find that power in you to lift yourself up and to empower women because, with that ability, you can achieve anything else.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I can’t say it was an easy journey. With any life-changing decision we choose for ourselves, it will have its new grounds and circumstances we must work around in order to achieve our goals. Finding work-life balance can sometimes be very difficult especially when you’re a mother and student. Surrounding yourself with individuals who support you and your dreams will go so far for you. You need to have your vision set for what your end goal is and do whatever it’ll take until you achieve your goals. You can not GROW without a struggle. You cannot develop STRENGTH without resistance. Every day, you need to continue challenging yourself, your most amazing qualities are made from your pain and struggles. We are given this one life, so we have to take advantage of it. We have to continue inspiring others, lifting others and give each strength to continue to keep pushing. There will be days where it will be so hard to keep pushing and continue fighting to make ends meet or pursuing whatever your passion is. We all have a purpose in this world, so we can’t give up. You can only find it if you keep going and GROWING.

Please tell us about Kimberly Huynh.
I specialize in providing beautiful and flawless makeup artistry. I am a very detail oriented individual and truly passionate about my art. I am most proud of my business because it has opened doors beyond belief for me. Through this industry, I have met so many talented and amazing individuals with the heart of gold. I have heard stories, dreams, and aspirations from my clients and teams I work with together.

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
I believe women are farther capable of succeeding in any career and environment they choose to. Now, the word feminist still scares a few people but it still means recognizing that men and women are equal and should be equal. I learned in order for us to progress and be progressive, we have to help each other out. Women are allowed to have it all, we’re allowed to have the power to empower each other and make this world a better place. We should never feel we have limitations and are subject to certain positions or a certain life. I will always continue telling other women to stand up for yourself. We have to continue to speak up for ourselves and to allow ourselves to have a voice in this world and any industry we choose to work in. Being a woman can sometimes be scary to be in this world, yet being a woman is the most powerful person we can ever be. We can face the world without shame or apology, to be powerful and fierce for me. I can only hope my message can inspire others to find the real you – to stand up, speak up and be heard.
