Life and Work with Feleecia Carson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Feleecia Carson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Feleecia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my business the summer of my sophomore year in college and I haven’t looked back since. I wanted to focus completely on school so at the time I didn’t have a job. I did receive financial aid from Florida State University but I wanted to make money to buy me nice things so I looked at my community and tried to figure out what I could do as a hustle and I instantly thought of eyelash extensions. That summer I worked for JCPenney in Jacksonville, Florida and I decided I wanted to take a beginner class Sony work schedule came out and I was off work the day a class was being taught so I drove 2 hours back to Tallahassee, Florida took my 4-hour course and drove back home the same day. I’ve been doing lashes ever since. Two years later, I graduated from Florida State University packed my bags and moved to LA July 30th to pursue my passion for helping women feel beautiful full time.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting and maintaining my business has not been smooth sailing. I am a first-generation college student and a first-generation entrepreneur. A lot of things I’ve had to figure out on my own. When my business got slow, I would do special deals to keep my clients coming in and when school got tough I would cry and pray. I didn’t really have anyone who had done what I wanted to help give me guidance or advice. My advice to any young woman who wants to start a business or even go to school is to never give up. When you have faith, you know that things will work out in the end for you. I’ve been living my life on keeping my faith strong and believing better days are ahead.

Please tell us about Lash in Style.
I am an Eyelash Technician specializing in Classic, hybrid (mixed), and volume eyelash extensions. I am known for the quality of work I put out and as a person of integrity. As a business owner, I am most proud of my drive to be better and produce better content and services. I pride myself on being a customer-first and a business owner second. Meaning that I always put my self in the client’s shoes if a discrepancy was to arrive. I want my clients to feel like they are respected and valued! I believe what sets me apart from others is simply who I am as a person and my background and passion. I truly want to be successful while maintaining my humbleness.

Who have you been inspired by?
A big source of my inspiration comes from my Mother. She didn’t grow up with the same opportunities as I did. She has nine other siblings and it was easy for her to just get by in life, graduate high school, find a job then start a family. When I talk to her and she tells me all the things she wish she would have done when she was young, it inspires me to be better than her and live the life she wish she would’ve taken more seriously. Now, a true boss and businesswoman that inspired me is Yris Palmer, owner of Star Lashes in Los Angeles, CA. Her being a first-generation entrepreneur and being able to raise her daughter, have a husband and open up several locations is the ultimate goal. I think she surrounds herself with powerful successful woman as well and just having a seat at the table to pick her brain would be a true goal.
