Life & Work with Fabiana Langston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fabiana Langston.

Hi Fabiana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been fascinated with music my entire life, mostly because a lot of my family had some type of connection to it. Although I was mainly exposed to Rap, R&B, and Hip Hop, I started my personal connection with music through classical piano around the age of six. I played seriously for about nine years, but eventually it took a toll so I quit and decided to get into music production. After years of structure, producing gave me a chance to put my knowledge of music theory and the talent I had worked so hard on to use. Now, I’m trying to master new skills like mixing and guitar so that I can get the chance to work with some of my biggest inspirations.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t say it was perfect, but I’m lucky enough to have the resources to achieve my goals as long as I practice the right work ethic. I can’t complain because I’ve had what I needed most of my life so it’s on me to surpass any obstacles and make things happen.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a new music producer so I can’t say I’m super experienced but I take a lot of pride in my melodies. Since I spent so much of my life playing piano, melodies are one thing that I think I’m able to do really well. A lot of the time, they pull from some of my favorite eras of music: Romantic, Renaissance, and even Baroque (if I’m really into at the time). These, plus the Rap and Hip Hop roots make for an interesting sound.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Work ethic is essential in what I’m trying to do. If I’m not striving to hone my craft every day, I don’t think I’ll be able to achieve my dream. It’s a harsh reality but acknowledging it is invaluable. It lets you know what you have to do.
