Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Pack.
Christina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I discovered my love for flowers in 2002 while working in the floral department at a local grocery store. I found it to be a wonderful creative outlet for me and I was fascinated by all of the different types of flowers I was newly discovering. Before building Wild at Heart Florist, I worked for a large construction company in Southern California. During my time there, I continued to do side flower jobs because I found it to be a wonderful stress reliever. I soon found myself extremely busy with my side hustle and I realized that my passion to work with flowers was too strong to ignore. I wanted to find a way to do what I love full-time and that is when I decided to make the gutsy decision to open my own floral business and pursue my floral dreams!
Has it been a smooth road?
When I decided to open my floral business, I knew that I needed to have a well thought out plan, so I created a business plan and got to work! There are many steps that need to be gone through when starting a business and having a plan made everything run so much smoother. I chose to set small goals for myself, so I felt that I was accomplishing something every day and didn’t feel as overwhelmed.
My advice to everyone is to take it one baby step at a time when working to accomplish a big goal. Also, dream big and don’t fear failure! You will hit some bumps in the road, but the end result will be SO worth it.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Wild at Heart Florist – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Wild at Heart Florist focuses on each client and caters to their unique taste and likes. We provide the freshest flowers by utilizing local vendors and seasonal products.
For weddings and events, we work personally with our clients by guiding them through the process of choosing the perfect blooms and foliage for their wedding or event.
When it comes to creating arrangements, each one is a piece of art, individually designed for each customer, based on their taste and personality. We also love to be given creative freedom to create something beautiful we know they will love!
Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
I am proud to say that I do not feel barriers in my industry. I stay involved in my floral community and have a wonderful solid group of flower friends that build one another up and we put each other first, before the competition. I love being able to see my friends succeed and become more and more successful.
