Life and Work with Bricia and Paulina Lopez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bricia and Paulina Lopez.

Bianca and Paulina, please share your story with us.
Super Mamas began about three years ago when my sister Paulina had the idea of bringing a new voice into the podcasting world. My sister by then had two daughters and I had just given birth to my son. We both realized that motherhood could be a lonely place. We wanted to bring a support system to moms all over the world and bring forth subjects we were both dealing with on a personal level. In our show, we’ve spoken about postpartum depression, mom guilt, sex after babies, self-care, wellness and growing your business while also growing your family. I remember the first weeks of the podcast launching, we received dozens of emails in our mailbox, and that is when we realized we had something special.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest struggle we had was just having the courage to publish our first show. We knew nothing about podcasting. But we took the time to educate our selves. We went to youtube and typed in “How to start your podcast” we went on google and event attended a podcast 101 seminar. Our advice would be to go out and educate yourselves. I heard a quote not too long ago that read “In today’s world of fast information, ignorance is a choice.” Don’t ever be shy about admitting you don’t know it all. Ask for help and seek a way to make what you want to make a reality,

Please tell us about Super Mamas.
We are honest and have learned to be unapologetic about who we are. On Super Mamas, we both speak on own motherhood experience. We don’t try to be anyone else, and believe it or not, that is hard. It’s hard to just be you.

Our most proud moments had been able to grow and evolve as a brand. Super Mamas has grown to be more than just a podcast, it is also a series of live events and an online community of women who support each other through their own motherhood journey.

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Ask for help… Google it.
