Life and Work with Anna Owsian

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Owsian.

Anna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My story with yoga began when I moved to Los Angeles from my hometown in Poland. This new life journey to LA was planned and very exciting for me but the transition and culture shock was emotionally challenging: I found myself in a different culture with no relatives, best friends, and personal beloved places to visit especially during the moments when I felt homesick. As I started to adjust to my life in LA, I felt like I was in a weird space of not knowing where I belong: I wasn’t any more at my safe spot on earth and not rooted yet to the place where I had just arrived. At this time of my life, I started discovering mindfulness practices and different types of yoga, meditations and noticing the amazingly positive results these tools brought into my life. Gradually I started experiencing the massive shift of feeling much more centered, grounded and present in the moment and to my new city. The benefits I was experiencing in my own life inspired me to share the gift of yoga and mindfulness with people around me and my community so they can experience the same joy, happiness, and peace of mind. Therefore, I decided to open my intimate home yoga studio in a beautiful oceanside West LA area to share all the greatest benefits come from the art of yoga.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, definitely it wasn’t a smooth road and I think there is no easy way to reach your goals and dreamy destinations. You have to take all the stairs wherever you are going to. However, I am profoundly sure that all the challenges and struggles help you to build your biggest asset, which is your mindset. If you struggle it’s a good sign. It means you are in such a deep process of discovering some new path; new way of thinking and it gives you the best opportunity to grow and build something very special. My advice while you are building something from the very beginning is to create a solid plan based on your visions and step by step putting all your heart and work into whatever you are going for. Be open, be courageous, don’t be afraid of thinking differently than whole world, go far away from your comfort zone and probably easy to say – but try to think about your past and future challenges like your best friends so you can be grateful for each struggle, learn your lessons and never let anyone stop you and your vision.

And if you feel you need to take break-go for it; slow down, go for a walk, take a breath and use yoga – these tools are always available for you.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Anna Owsian Yoga – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Inspired by my Dear friend Fatimata Nene Sanogo, mentors Lauren Eckstrom and Travis Elliot and trips I took to Central America, Asia, and Europe these last few years, I created an intimate, modern and unique studio where I offer mostly private, individual or small group classes dedicated to anyone who wants to start or continue their yoga journey, as well as to professional athletes who need to speed up their recovery process and gain more flexibility and strength into their body.

While working with each of my clients the deepest mission I hold in my heart is to bring the passion of yoga to create a non-judgmental, safe and empowering space, which paves the way to long-term self-realization, relaxation, happiness, and good health.

What am I proud of? I am extremely happy when clients who come to my studio say that my classes give them calmness and needed peace of mind and the studio itself has one of a kind vibe and unique setting which is hard to find anywhere else in the city.

For those dedicated people and many more I want to keep growing, keep creating and keep spreading yoga so, at the end of my day, I can see and meet more and more beautiful human beings finding their own, very personal and unique way to happy, healthy and truly fulfilling lives!

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
Of course! Women are extremely powerful beings. Opportunities sometimes knock at the door, but if they aren’t – we have to build the doors for them and women are such great creators. Their strength and naturally rooted skills help them to become excellent leaders, entrepreneurs, and successful business owners. We have to be all beyond the stereotypes believe in ourselves and create strong women network that supports each other – then we can easily bring all the ideas on the table and shake the Earth! We have to remember that as women, we have a power to create the changes and bring the long term beautiful results which lead to connected community and I profoundly believe that connected community is a natural key to create a successful, fulfilling and happy living environment for this and future generations.

So, to all the women around the globe-whatever you keep in your loving hearts, this is the time to take action and go for it!
