Life and Work with Alexis Casso

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Casso.

Alexis, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hi! I am an actress and a Pilates instructor. I also work at the athletic club at Sony Pictures Entertainment. You could say I am definitely living the La La Land life! I have always wanted to act, for as long as I can remember. I love making people feel, and especially laugh! I want to do comedy- sitcoms, specifically. I work two jobs and study at Groundlings in my spare time. My plate is full but that is the life of an aspiring artist! I would not be here without the support of my family and friends. My parents are my rocks and without them, I wouldn’t be able to do what I do. Moving out to LA to pursue my crazy dreams was by far the hardest thing I have ever done! It’s hard being away from home but I know what I want I must be out here.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road is still super bumpy and not stable! I don’t think it will ever be smooth sailing. It’s a struggle that never really ends. I mean, I hope it does in the future! I pray I have more career stability in the future but I don’t think the entertainment business is very consistent. I think the hustle will always be part of it. I do think the support of loved ones is so important! I admit I had some naysayers before I moved out here, so even not having their support didn’t stop me. It’s fun to prove people wrong! Plus, it takes a certain amount of courage to just jump in and follow your heart. I am so thankful my parents always supported me and still do to this day. The most important thing is just believing in yourself and knowing you are worth it. Being able to get back up when you fall and fail is key. I still don’t know what I am doing, I mean do any of us really know? But I always ask myself, what else would I do besides acting? I can’t think of anything else that I really love. I don’t think I am good at anything else. Do what you love – living your truth and your dreams are the most inspiring thing.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am an aspiring actress who is just trying to pave her way! I am not known for anything (yet!) but I have done extra work on some TV shows like The Goldbergs, The Mindy Project, and Brooklyn 99. My specialty is definitely comedy! In the meantime, I am the cheerful girl who greets members when they walk into the athletic club on the Sony lot. I also teach Pilates in Hollywood! Come get your workout on!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
I love to look at inspirational quotes on Pinterest and Instagram! I also love to read in general! I read Jenna Fisher’s book recently and really loved it! It was so helpful as an actress!
