Inspiring Conversations with Sommer Jordan of Sustain LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sommer Jordan.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve dreamed of starting my own business since I was 15 years old. Fast forward to 2020, I’m now 25, sitting at home binge-watching Netflix during the pandemic. Between watching endless episodes of Game of Thrones and online shopping for outfits, I had nowhere to go in, I began to think how can one make money in the middle of a lockdown? As I grew tired of thinking of the impossible, I got on Twitter and started scrolling. I then saw the same way I was still online shopping for clothing with no place to go was the same for millions of other women. That is when Sustain LA emerged.

Sustain LA is an online clothing boutique based out of Los Angeles. The goal of Sustain LA is to provide affordable and unique clothing to all women, sourced by a Los Angeles native.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Women online boutiques are an extremely saturated market, with new boutiques popping up daily. You have to figure out ways to differentiate yourself from the competition. For me it was implementing my personal style, purchasing pieces that I would wear and not just purchasing based off what was “popular” at the time.

Another struggle that I had to overcome is, realizing your friends and family are not obligated to support you whether that be purchasing from you or sharing your content on social media. Focus on your target audience, that is who will get you to where you want to go.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Sustain LA specializes in finding unique pieces that you will not see everywhere. When shopping with Sustain LA you are guaranteed to purchase pieces that will make you the center of attention and have heads turning.
