Inspiring Conversations with Ryan Shah of RYSE Creative and RYSE Health

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Shah.

Hi Ryan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Just like with most things in life, nothing good or worthwhile comes easy. Going into UCLA as a Neuroscience major on the pre-med track was definitely an uphill sprint. When I realized that my interests were aligned elsewhere, it was initially difficult to accept that fact since I was out-of-state and came to UCLA to eventually go to med school and become a doctor. But I believe that everything happens for a reason and looking back, it’s crazy how life has a way of figuring itself out and coming full-circle.

I found a path in the music industry after taking a couple of classes and really enjoying them. After graduating in 2018, I was an intern for about nine months at a music publishing company before I got my first job in music. That job led me to getting my then dream job at a record label and publishing company with a small team and startup feel – exactly what I was looking for. I wore a lot of hats and loved that I was learning something new every day.

When the pandemic hit, I had more time in my day (from not having to commute) to really think about where my interests lied and how I wanted the next couple of years of my life to go. Your 20s are all about taking risks – especially risks on yourself – and I truly believe that to the core.

I used to design websites and build computers in high school – super-nerd I know. I was able to find my way back to what I truly enjoyed doing during the pandemic and launched a website design and development agency in September of 2020. I was working on my agency before work, after work and on weekends in addition to my full-time job in music. By March of 2021, I got my agency to a point where I was able to map out an exit plan for my full-time job. One week before my birthday in June was the last day working a full-time job.

It’s now been over half a year, and I couldn’t be happier doing work I enjoy and having the ability to schedule my day as I see fit. As a Gemini, I’m always thinking about the future and brainstorming new business ideas 🙂 so we’ll see where that takes me next!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Any new venture has its ups and downs. Working on building my agency in addition to my full-time job was stressful at times but I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way – I proved to myself that whatever I put my mind to, I could achieve. In the end, it’s all about your mindset and manifesting what you want.

At the moment, all my clients have been through word of mouth with little to no outbound marketing, so in that sense it has been a smooth road acquiring clients. I’m grateful to have an awesome network of friends and family who always keep me in mind whenever they have an opportunity or come across an opportunity for me.

I’ve learned a ton about working with clients and the one piece of advice I have is to always define the scope of work to avoid any miscommunications along the way.

We’ve been impressed with RYSE Creative and RYSE Health, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I run a website design and development agency called RYSE Creative (, and recently launched a sister agency called RYSE Health ( – with a focus on the health, wellness and fitness industries.

We specialize in website design + development, e-commerce, site management, web compliance, and branding. RYSE Health, in addition, offers custom-branded platforms and apps for personal fitness trainers, coaches and nutritionists. Our technical stack is WordPress, Shopify and Webflow, but we also do website work on Squarespace.

I’m most proud to say that I launched an agency and built it to fully sustain myself in just 7-8 months of hard work and a hyper-focused mindset.

RYSE Creative and RYSE Health are full-service website design and development agencies. What sets us apart is our attention to detail, ensuring that our client’s websites are designed pixel-perfect and optimized for the success of their company/brand.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Absolutely! Networking might sound like a daunting task, but look at it as just meeting new people! It can be something simple like meeting friends of friends at a birthday dinner or joining a fitness studio and becoming a part of that community.

Reach out to like-minded people on Instagram and LinkedIn in an organic, “hey, I’d love to get to know you” type of way. You’ll be surprised what kind of friendships and opportunities can come out of it.

Short story, my girlfriend and I made a spontaneous trip to Santa Barbara a couple of months ago. We were walking on State street and I saw this fun little outdoor arts market with different businesses selling their products. I looked to my girlfriend and said let’s go check it out. Not even 2 minutes into looking around, we met this amazing couple. Our dogs instantly got along and so did we, and now we’re super close friends and they run multiple businesses too!

You’re one decision away from a completely different life.
