Hi Maureen, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
There is so much to my story, but the beginning is not something you can necessarily plan for.
When I was 15 years old, I had what I call a beautiful accident in the bath. This was well before I became a self-proclaimed sensual bath aficionado. I leaned up and grabbed onto the faucet when it popped off, creating a shooting stream that landed somewhere….magical.
The WaterSlyde came a few decades later and it’s been my career since. The WaterSlyde aquatic stimulator is the revolutionary and patented faucet attachment that harnesses the power of water for your personal bath pleasure. It’s so unique and doubles as a feminine hygiene device. We also found TikTok success in the fall of 2021 when a video demonstrating The WaterSlyde received over 24 million views. Check it out! In the midst of inventing The WaterSlyde, I had a total brand crush on Lovability that I found on Instagram. At this time, Lovability was primarily a feminist condom company designed to combat embarrassment and convert shy women into proud condom-carriers. The founder of Lovability and I became true soul sisters, and alongside two partners, I purchased Lovability from the original founder in 2020.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Entrepreneurs are known to wear many hats, so in this case I can say it’s been a smooth road because I enjoy the new challenges that come with the title. I don’t like when things are boring or mundane.
With that being said, I can absolutely pinpoint a few struggles. The biggest obstacle to overcome is the fact that the sexual wellness industry is male-dominated. Many women-owned businesses – not just in this industry – are constantly fighting to be seen and to be heard. That comes with the business, but I see that changing quickly.
Early on in my career, I struggled to work with a factory to produce The WaterSlyde because I was a woman. I had funding from my own pocketbook and I was looking for an injection molding company in the U.S. I was constantly getting turned down by male factory operators mansplaining about the process and even referred to me as “little lady”. I finally started getting responses with zero hesitation from these factories when I changed my email to “John”. Did I work with them? No. I just couldn’t do business with people that talked down to me.
Another “struggle” is bootstrapping. I’ve never had any investors or received funding for The WaterSlyde or Lovability, but this is how I wanted it to be. I’ve been able to build the company on my timeline and learn to work out the kinks that come with growing a business. I often wonder what it would’ve been like if I did have dollars or investors early on. Bootstrapping has allowed me to finetune my machine before I mass-produce it.
Finally the biggest struggle for anyone in the sexual wellness industry…marketing and advertising. Sexual wellness is beautiful and it’s a true part of women’s health and as an industry, we’re lumped into the taboo and raunchy adult industry. This creates a lot of barriers making it an uphill battle to climb. Our products are loved by doctors, grandmothers…and guess what? Pornstars alike.

Today, Lovability is a women-owned wellness company that empowers identifying women to take charge of their sexual health by creating body-safe, eco-friendly and revolutionary products. We pride ourselves on being a safe and approachable platform for the sexually curious and dives into topics around vulva care, pleasure as well as inclusivity and equality. We’re truly a wellness company that is at the intersection of beauty and sexual wellness.
When customers shop Lovability, they know that we really do give AF. We care about women having a happy and healthy life while taking care of our Mother Earth. I will not compromise on value or being “good for you”. We make sexual health and wellness products designed by women for women. PERIOD.
How do you think about happiness?
Breaking the stigma around sexual health and hygiene and helping people.
I am so proud I invented a pleasure product that is easily accessible to any identifying woman out there. The WaterSlyde is a beautiful and natural way for women to use their bathtub and turn it into an arousal device. You can’t get more natural and clean than water. A lot of women use the bathroom to “feel good”. I didn’t realize all the other sub-quests that would come with it.
I have a lot of sexual therapists that have written to me to tell me that they use The WaterSlyde as an aid to help their patients get back into feeling stimulation without being triggered. The disabled community have told me that The WaterSlyde helps with arousal and hygiene.
I am just so happy that I have created a place where women have a space where they can feel comfortable to ask questions and purchase products for arousal, for hygiene and for happiness.
