Inspiring Conversations with Kyle Lerner of Lerner IT Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Lerner.

Hi Kyle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am the proud Owner and President of Lerner IT Consulting, LLC (“LIT”), a company that provides Information Technology (“IT”) services to small to medium-sized businesses.

We are a Managed IT provider that essentially provides IT support for several businesses that are too small to need a full-time IT Administrator on payroll.

If there’s anything I’d like to share about the company brand and the story about it, it’s that I’ve always had an interest in computers, ever since I was a kid. My 5th grade yearbook literally says, “I want to be an IT Wizard when I grow up.”

I used to get called out of Middle School class at least twice a week to assist the school teachers/faculty with their computer issues/questions (LAUSD should’ve had me on payroll, haha).

People would drop their laptops off at my parent’s house when I was 11-12 years old for me to try and fix. I saved up money to purchase a home when I turned 21 and started my dream business five years later.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, LIT was able to donate over 20 laptops to students, teachers, and families in need of a computer at home. It was an honor to give back to the community that gave so much to us.

Lerner IT Consulting is a business built on dreams and fueled by passion.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
At first, it was difficult handling the request load, but by implementing the proper controls and request/incident platforms, we successfully reached a place where we can better organize and address issues at a faster pace!

I am most proud of the security, backup procedures, and policies that we’ve implemented for our clients; and our incredibly fast response times. Since implementing the proper controls, it isn’t abnormal for us to address an issue within 15 minutes of initial correspondence.

LIT has evolved to what it is today thanks to our loyal clients/friends and their referrals and the growth of our team.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Lerner IT Consulting, LLC is a legally licensed and insured company focused on creating affordable, full-service Information Technology solutions for small to medium-sized companies in the Greater Los Angeles area, providing them with the IT support they need to succeed. I am most proud of our growth, strict policies, good attitude, and lifelong relationships that we’ve developed since the company started. Lerner IT has grown its client base primarily on referrals, and that is the biggest compliment one can give us.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
The role of luck is a very interesting topic to me. I’ve recently watched a YouTube video about luck from the @Veritasium channel titled “Is Success Luck or Hard Work,” and I really enjoyed it.

While I believe that luck makes its way into all parts of life and business, I also feel like hard work has a lot to do with it.

For example, say you work really hard for years to build a business that delivers great service with many clients.

Then, say, you randomly run into a potential client out in the world (let’s call her “Nancy”) and find out that this person also just so happens to know an existing client of yours (let’s call him “Mike”).

I believe that luck brought Nancy’s acquaintance and connection with Mike, but I also believe that the hard work (Mike’s recommendations to Nancy, later that day, on Lerner IT’s great service) is what will get Nancy to sign up with Lerner IT.
