Inspiring Conversations with Jaison Sydney Blackwater of Red Sydney

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaison Sydney Blackwater.

Hi Jaison Sydney, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
At the age of 13 (Summer of 2003), I would film videos of my best friend James doing BMX bike tricks on the street, using his mother’s video camera. That Christmas, my dad bought me a Sony DVD video camera and I then began shooting short stories in my neighborhood with my friends. The stories were based on crime, suspense and action.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m blessed and fortunate to say it has been a smooth road. It’s been nothing but fun, educating, and relationship-building. Some of my best memories ever is centered around creating films with my friends growing up. Starting at a young age gave me a lot of advantages such as knowing what I wanted to do later in life, sharpening skills, knowing what college and major I wanted to study in, having the confidence to show my work to people, and being able to help others with their passion for acting and showcasing their talent as well.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Red Sydney was started 2012 in NYC as an independent production company. We specialize in providing everything necessary for independent storytelling. I would say we’re best known for our content; we premiere on the Red Sydney Channel on Roku and on RedSydneyStreaming.com. What sets us apart from others is the ability to execute tension in our stories ranging from crime thrillers to sci-fi thrillers. What sets me apart as a director, I would say is the attention to detail I study in dialogue, psychology and realism I aim for.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Always been an introvert, I loved to Joke around and stay creative. I grew up in the Northeast Bronx in the 2000’s where we had enough technology to make life easier, but not too much social media to where interactions remained organic for the most part. I was known for doing filmmaking and just being a funny guy with a sense of humor.
