Inspiring Conversations with Jaden Hummel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaden Hummel.

Hi Jaden, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a skateboarder and the owner of Soul Expansion LLC. I work as a mindset mentor for entrepreneurs and people who are their own brand.

Before I started doing this work, I was in the business of flipping houses, coaching snowboarding and yoga, and doing various work in the off-season.

My business path really began in college where I started going deep into personal development. I made a quick switch from studying engineering to studying entrepreneurship and I dove into as much energy healing work as I could get my hands on. I was fascinated by personal transformation.

I started studying Healing Touch and Reiki and completed a 200hr yoga teacher training certification by the time I was 21. There was a pivotal moment when I realized that I could actually change the patterns I had been demonstrating my whole life to transform my relationships and operate as a whole new human. So naturally, I became obsessed with doing energy work on myself, my family, and anyone who would let me. I am now certified in three different levels of this work.

At that point, I knew I wanted to do some kind of healing work for a living, but I had no idea what that would look like. So I did what I thought would make me money and allow me to “enjoy my life.”

I coached snowboarding all over the country and earned my income as an entrepreneur in the summer. I managed construction projects and I flipped two houses (one in Pittsburgh, PA and one in Burlington, VT). I started a successful window washing company in Lake Tahoe while studying for my real estate license. I was deeply committed to working for myself so I could make time for everything I loved doing – which usually looked like surfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding.

Right before I started my business, I was working 9-5 at an experiential marketing agency. It was sort of my breaking point. I lost the drive to skate or snowboard and I barely had enough money to pay my bills. There was an undeniable truth in my body that I wanted to be helping people do what I had been doing most of my life – having plenty of time and energy to enjoy myself!

There was one week in particular where I remember having three friends ask me something like “Are you free at 9pm to help me work through my relationships and/or make a big decision about my job?” That was the point that I felt ready to begin my coaching career.

The first step was completing a Holistic Life Coaching Certification. Then I relentlessly invested in my own life coaches and business mentors and showed up every single day to land where I am today. I started my business by offering free coaching sessions to anyone who was willing.

Now, I run an international company that hosts two online courses helping entrepreneurs master work-life balance and find deep fulfillment in their lives.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It always felt easy, but looking back that isn’t exactly the case!

I lived out of my Subaru eating rice and beans in the early stages of my business. I sold my house for cash to invest into myself, And have launched entire programs that completely flopped, and I’ve had consecutive months with zero income. But I’d say the biggest challenge was learning how to operate a business that is so close to me.

Right around the time I committed to being full time in my business, I got a bad concussion from snowboarding. I realized immediately that my entire business model was dependent on my brain’s ability to function.

Most of the challenges I’ve faced have been learning how to give myself permission to rest, delegate things when needed, and keep trust on the forefront.

There’s a lot of emotion involved in running a business that is so close to your heart, but it is always worth it. I would rather run a business that I love than do just about anything else, and that’s what ultimately got me to where I am today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My company (Soul Expansion LLC, more commonly known as Jaden Hummel Coaching) runs online courses to help entrepreneurs master work-life balance and access deep fulfillment in their life & career. My programs are a mix of group and private coaching.

My zone of genius is helping people program their minds to support their highest desires and do the things that they actually want to do in life. I’m known for laser focus coaching sessions that lead to taking fast action on things that have been brewing for years. It’s a mix of practical tools, energetics, and exploring new realms of expansion.

This work is designed to change everything on a soul level. Many of my clients report that our work together is more helpful than years of therapy, and they are able to leave my containers making more money, having better relationships, and sleeping better at night. It’s an honor to facilitate this kind of work.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
“The Big Leap” by Gay Hendricks and “Unbound: A Woman’s Guide to Power” by Kasia Urbaniak. These two books were huge expanders for me and I still refer back to them often. As far as podcasts, I’ll listen to random episodes that spark my interest or use them for humor. Everything in moderation!
