Inspiring Conversations with Edith Sedano of LashGame.LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edith Sedano.

Hi Edith, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello, my name is Edith Sedano I am a 25 year old DACA recipient born in Mexico Culiacan, Sinaloa. I was brought over to ‘The States’ when I was 6 months old. My mom at the time was 16 years old, she herself was very young in age. I was raised by Mom and Stepdad in Norwalk, CA. After High School I went to College for a couple months but decided that it just wasn’t for me, so I dropped out and started working two jobs for good while. Thereafter, I found a decent paying job at the age of 21 at FedEx as an Operation Administrator. I was there for about 3 years, so I can definitely say that I have been a hard worker since I was about 17 years old. Growing up, my family did not have that much money and we were moving from place to place, so it was hard to call a place home. My Stepdad was the only source of income for my family and my Mom being a stay at home Mom was a bit of a struggle on my family. I have 3 siblings, 2 younger brothers (23 & 15) and 1 younger sister who is 4 years old. I am the oldest of the 4. Being the oldest kinda of positioned me to having to take care of my family. Right now I give them whatever I can because of our struggles.

After having my own two children both girls (4 & 2), I knew that I had to work even harder because the last thing I would want for them is to go through the same struggles that I did growing up. While working at FedEx I was looking into the future. I’ve always had a dream about being my own boss. I was tired of working a 9-5. I have always been into makeup since I was young, I would do my friends and family’s makeup whenever I had the chance. Being familiar with using strip lashes was what got me into Eyelash extensions. October 2018 is when I decided to take my first eyelash extensions course. So shortly after, I was working my two jobs FedEx was my full-time and part-time lashing. During this time period is when I fell in love with lashing! I finally found something that I was passionate about. I quit my job at FedEx and in October 2020 is when I officially became my own boss and my dreams of being an entrepreneur were becoming a reality. I then enrolled in Esthetician School where I became and certified Esthetician. I also became very passionate about skincare. I then realized that everything felt like it was falling into place and everything that was meant to be happened. I am, super blessed to always be booked and busy with my business. I am also super excited for what the future holds for me, and I am devoted in helping some feel confident by looking their best!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was rough working at FedEx, being a certified Lash Boss, Esthetician, Mom, and Wife all at the same time can be a bit overwhelming sometimes. At times, I would be so tired that I just wanted to give in and quit, but never did. I always remind myself why I started. I am full of ambition and motivation for my girls and my family.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am Lash Extension Specialist, I do all types of lashes! I love creating a bold volume set to a light natural classic set. I try my best to make sure my clients are satisfied with their end product by making them look their best. Along my esthetician school journey, I added facials, brow waxing, brow tinting, and brow lamination to my services.

How do you define success?
Everyone defines success differently, but the way I define it is when you are fulfilling everything you set out to do in life and just being happy doing so. And accomplishing financial freedom!
