Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Witkin.
Hi Nicole, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I had been following some social media accounts from people in Tennessee and Texas that had beautiful modern farmhouse homes that had these wonderful yard signs prominently displayed that were celebrating a variety of events. With the onset of the pandemic, I realized that my own children and their friends wouldn’t be able to get together and celebrate like they so desperately needed. I had been looking for something to stoke my creativity and after doing some research, bought a sign for my oldest daughter’s birthday. It was something simple and was very basic, but once I put it up I could see that there was something here that was raw that could be a fun way to celebrate.
Once drive-by parties became the norm, demand turned my one sign into many signs. I started to add my personal touches so that I was more than happy with what I was doing. It felt good to bring just a little bit of joy to people in what was the beginning of a dark time. My husband would remark that I had the best job in the world. Everyone was always happy to see me and that I was bringing them joy. He actually said he was a bit envious because as a teacher, no one is happy to see him! People kept contacting me saying they loved what I did and things just took off from there. This has become a family venture as we go together to spread a little bit of joy and love.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There has been a learning curve to adjusting to this pandemic while still spreading joy. I have to occasionally adjust my work schedule to accommodate virtual school for my four young kids. We often install late at night or early in the morning sometimes with kids in tow. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a struggle but it’s been an adjustment and adventure.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are known for celebratory Yard Signs in the yard for all types of occasions. I really say what we do is Yard art because each sign is custom tailored to each recipient with a lot of love and attention to detail.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I really put a huge amount of heart and soul into my little business. I have a great deal of pride of ownership in my company and my number one goal is to make everyone feel celebrated and loved any time of year, even during a pandemic.
