Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Kennedy.
Hi Kelsey, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Well in a nutshell, I’ve always felt a call to be of service to others in some way. I came to LA as many do to be an actress but ultimately found the process to be emotionally draining and took the joy out of the art for me. In 2008 a friend of mine introduced me to The Bar Method and within a year, I was an instructor for a few of their studio franchises. I fell in love with teaching and helping women(some men too!) feel strong and confident. Then in 2012, my best friend from college and I open our own Bar Method studio in Silver Lake. We worked our asses off to open, doing much of the buildout, teaching, training, and sales ourselves. The result is that we created an amazingly supportive and resilient community that I’m constantly inspired by.
However, I don’t think I could have fully anticipated how stressful it is to run a small brick and mortar business. About four years ago, I started to experience some intense anxiety. Wanting to go the holistic route, I was recommended CBD about three years ago and I’ve been forever changed. Once I realized how magical this plant was, I once again felt called to share it with others. I’ve also become a pretty big astrology and crystal nerd and thought rose quartz and cbd would be such a healing pairing. And that is the very long-winded answer to how Blossom & Stone came to be 😉 .
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Oh, hell no! Too many bumps to count. While I have gotten used to the struggles of owning a brick and mortar business, I don’t I could have ever been prepared for the struggles that have come with Covid. While one of my business is indefinitely closed, I also launched Blossom & Stone in April of this year. Delays on supplies and product, lack of interest, low sales. It has been incredibly hard to gain momentum during Covid. There have been many moments where I’ve felt like this was a mistake, but I always come back to that this is something that will help others and I have to keep showing up and serving. And once people actually get the product in their hands and try it, they always tell me how much they love it so I know I must be doing something right.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Blossom & Stone?
I am the creator and founder of Blossom & Stone. Blossom & Stone combines the time-tested powers of hemp flowers and crystals to bring relief to your daily routine. Our tincture is hand bottled in small batches during every full and new moon for quality and freshness. We use organically grown CBD isolate, MCT oil, and just a touch of lemon verbena, then add charged rose quartz for extra grounding and healing to harness the power of the moon.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Well, I believe that everything happens for a reason, but I guess I would say that my husband brought me luck. About three years into dating, one of his best friends moved back to LA and he insisted that we would hit it off. He was not wrong. Instant friends. I mentioned to her that I was creating Blossom & Stone and it just so happened she was leaving her corporate job to go out on her own for branding and marketing. She fell in love with the concept of Blossom & Stone and I became her first client. She has been so supportive and collaborative and I can’t imagine Blossom & Stone without her. So I guess I owe my husband a big thank you 🙂
