Today we’d like to introduce you to Baylee Price.
Hi Baylee, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always wanted to be able to do remote work but never found a fit. A little over a year ago as I was working two jobs, I stumbled upon the online community of Virtual Assistants and Social Media Managers. I knew social media management would be perfect for me so I started doing tons of research took a couple of courses and then got myself a marketing coach. My coach really helped me to learn how to market myself as a business and it didn’t take long before I started gaining monthly retainer clients! I was able to go full-time in my business about six months before I had projected.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think all entrepreneurs definitely go through struggles in their journey. I think when I was starting off self-doubt was my biggest struggle. I thought, what if I can’t make this work, what if I’m just not good at this? There is scary feelings that come with starting your own business because if you fail it’s all on you, not your manager or your boss. But I think this is also one of my biggest motivators, I take all the responsibility for my success which makes the possibilities endless!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Social By Baylee?
I am a social media manager specializing in Instagram. What I do is create Instagram posts geared towards marketing my client’s business as well as bring them brand awareness. I also do engagement, which is liking, commenting, and interacting with their following. One of my favorite smaller packages that I offer is my hashtag research package. The right hashtags are so important in order to propel your post in front of new eyes. With this offer, I deliver personalized hashtags tailored to the client’s target market. I have an organic approach to my methods because paying for followers or taking other “shortcuts” when it comes to your Instagram will just hurt your business in the long run. As the Instagram algorithm is ever-changing, one thing that is for sure is that the platform is geared towards authentic interactions and connections. Genuine comments and people who actually follow you because they admire your brand is worth so much more than thousands of likes!
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Luckily networking on social media can be worth more than in person networking if done properly! When I first started out, I dedicated a set amount of hours each day to reach out to ones I admired and to build genuine connections. My biggest advice in this area is to never make it your goal to see what you can get out of it. What I mean by this is don’t talk to someone just because you want them to be a client. Having selfish intention never reaps the benefits you want in the long run. Build genuine connections, work hard and the rest falls into place!
