Hidden Gems: Meet Zherra Manilay of Comfy Trends LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zherra Manilay.

Hi Zherra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my online boutique business due to this pandemic.

The fashion design company I was working for about eight years had been affected and had to file for bankruptcy. Because of this, I lost my design job & I decided to just open my own small business.

Since majority of people were mostly just working from home in the beginning of the pandemic, I decided to market & offer comfy, trendy but affordable luxury looks & styles.

I hand-picked all my products, designed my own website and within three months, Comfy Trends LA is up and running in time for online Christmas shopping!

Also, to make my small business dream even more meaningful and worthy, I wanted to help out my community in any way that I can by donating part of my online profits to Feeding America, Senior Pet Sanctuary and the Cancer Research Institute.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say—just like any business, it has its ups and downs. The challenge of just starting out is marketing your brand and getting it known. Another thing is you have to do everything yourself —dealing with suppliers, organizing & managing your website, packaging and shipping all orders. Nothing’s perfect all the time but I’m learning so much things along the way!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Comfy Trends LA?
Comfy Trends LA is a Los Angeles based small online clothing boutique that specializes in affordable luxury loungewear and trendy styles for women, men and kids. We also have home stuff and organic beauty products.

We are known for our super comfy sets for the whole family. We can also custom size your purchases, just reach out to us!

Mostly proud of being part of LA-based small businesses while doing our part to help out by donating part of your purchases to charities and non-profit organizations in our community.

You get comfy and trendy outfits while being able to give to Feeding America to help out people in need, donate to older and special needs pets at the Senior Pet Sanctuary and help fund in finding cures in fighting cancer at the Cancer Research Institute.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like best about our city is that it has so much diversities of different cultures and ethnicities! This place has so much fun things to explore, learn from and experience.

I’d say what I like least is seeing the homeless and needy people on the streets of LA— I really wish we can do something about this issue and get them help.
