Hidden Gems: Meet Shanelle Dandy of Shanelle Sells California

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanelle Dandy.

Shanelle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Thank you for having me. The average upbringing was not my reality. Growing up was a bit rough for me. I wasn’t afforded the luxury of having both parents. At the age of 3, my mother passed away, and shortly after, my father went to prison. Once my father was released from prison, life changed for the better. Within a year, my father built a business, and we went from sharing a room in my aunt’s home to buying our own home. That’s when I knew I wanted to be a businesswoman. Seeing my father build a foundation from scratch and becoming a mother to my son, Desmond, were vital moments in my life.

I am an author, entrepreneur, realtor, and mother from Pasadena, California. I currently reside in the Inland Empire, helping homeowners and future homeowners in Real Estate. I launched Shanelle Sells California in 2018 after passing the Real Estate Exam. Working as an assistant under top producing Realtors sparked my interest, and my Real Estate career started to blossom from there. I eat, sleep, and breathe Real Estate. I truly love what I do and I always put the best interest of my clients first.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There are no smooth roads in building a business. Every day is a new challenge, and although I am still fairly new to real estate entrepreneurship, I am equipped with everything I need to be successful and remain committed and dedicated to my clients. In 2018, I became a mother, a licensed realtor, and worked full-time as a leasing consultant for a prominent property management company. It was the most trying time of my career, but I got through it somehow. Being a new real estate agent is extremely difficult, and I had tons of work to catch up on from being on maternity leave while trying my best to navigate through motherhood without much guidance. Those experiences taught me that I couldn’t do it alone, and building a successful career in real estate doesn’t happen overnight.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business, Shanelle Sells Califonia, is a full-service organization bringing you top-of-the-line service and expert client representation. We provide 24-hour availability. My team and I have taken calls as early as 5 am and as late as midnight. What makes me most proud of my business is balancing professionalism, providing exceptional results, having fun, and overall client care. I am loving the brand that I am building. We pride ourselves on being 100 percent honest with our clients even when it’s not what they want to hear. I believe that’s been a huge contributing factor to our success. I’ve gone as far as advising clients on which homes to purchase because I knew it wouldn’t be in their best interest; I realize not many agents would do that. For me, a good agent is like a good attorney. As an Agent, you need to be ethical and honest and someone that can produce results! Lastly, what sets us apart from others is that we know what our priorities are. For me, I am a devoted mother, partner, then a businesswoman. I want my passion for my own family to spill over into the lives of the families I serve. Every person needs to know that they are valued, and I work very hard to show that through my business.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Aside from being a Realtor, I am also a real estate investor. My mentor Dedric gave me a glimpse of Real Estate and how it generated positive cash flow. This has catapulted my income and net worth to another level. Mentorship and networking are a cheat codes in business.
