Hidden Gems: Meet Pentené Milner of Journey Your Style

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pentené Milner.

Hi Pentené, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?

Yes, of course. Gratitude for the opportunity. I am Pentené, a Wardrobe Healer and Style Coach of my brand, Journey Your Style, located in Los Angeles and virtually. I help women overcome adversity, heal past wounds, and become the best version of themselves using style as a tool for self-love and healing after trauma.

From early on, style held a special place in my heart because of the influence of my beautiful mother. She made sure my siblings and I always looked our best. It was of importance to her that we present ourselves with class and confidence. I carried that lesson into adulthood and wore clothing I felt represented a poised and respectful young woman. It has taken me far and enabled many opportunities. To my surprise, in 2014, I fell deeper in love with it after a growing understanding that we could create and express ourselves using the power of clothing. I wanted to support women that needed help with this.

I got serious about turning style into a career path as an Image Consultant and Bridal Stylist. I went from speaking on being motivated by what we wear, then, to the power of healing ourselves using our wardrobe as the way we want to act, look, and feel. The change came off the heels of enduring divorce trauma and narcissistic abuse. Once I faced circumstances too difficult to bear, I decided to attend therapy to overcome the circumstances and improve myself. Within my awakening, I discovered that it was vital to divorce the old version of myself simultaneously with the divorce from my ex — this opened the door to the start of a self-love and healing journey.

I had no idea my self-work would empower my career path and what was to come (but I am so happy it did). Next, I started using my style as an act of self-love to heal my wounds, overcome adversity, and evolve into a better version of myself. Once it transformed my vision, my spiritual calling and purpose were born. I began calling myself a Wardrobe Healer and then created the Wardrobe Healing Experience. Journey Your Style is my brand and the home of my movement. It is a reminder that we are ever-evolving and can use our style as a tool to create ourselves through life experiences within our journey.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?

True. I don’t believe that anything in life comes without obstacles and bumps in the road. These are divine assignments to help us grow. I will say that the journey has been a worthy experience that I am grateful for because of who I have become in the process. Developing my movement has helped me analyze my life and areas that need growth. In the process, I am learning about myself and understanding that the success of my movement is not separate from the success of my personal life.

Like so many of us, I have dealt with imposter syndrome and self-limiting beliefs, which can halt the growth of your brand. I’ve learned ways to work through this effectively whenever self-doubt creeps in. I immediately switch off my negative thoughts and change them to positive by practicing positive statements and affirmations. It also provides an opportunity to see where else I need to do some inner self-work. Changing your mindset from negative to positive is crucial to your well-being and mental health.

I believe it is essential to work on yourself and wellness every day and not put more into your business than you put into yourself. What you embody within yourself will show up in your business practices. Like, your code of behavior for one. What affects you personally will impact your business. Energy attracts like energy.

The road is the equivalent of a journey. Although our life journey can come with unplanned paths, trusting that it will lead us to the right path teaches us when it’s time to change gears. My hardships have birthed purpose, and I have found my purpose in servicing and uplifting others with a tool to be in the act of self-improvement. I also found that my purpose lies in working hard at being myself every day to be the light and show others how to shine their light too after darkness.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Journey Your Style?

Journey Your Style is a wardrobe healing and style coaching service. We support and guide women to heal past wounds, overcome relationship trauma, and become the best version of themselves using style as an act of self-love.

The wardrobe healing consultation service created through Journey Your Style to inspire women to transcend within their journey using the power of their wardrobe: our wardrobe healing consults and session (helping women determine what clothing styles speak true to them, their contributions to the world, and mirror their soul), personal shopping (selecting the best options to help clients curate the style that celebrates and honors them as an act of self-love), closet clean-out (a reflection and release method to create space for the wardrobe that aligns with their best selves, creates an energy of love and helps manifest her dreams) and event styling (dressing the customer for an occasion and event that inspires her to closely identify with who she is and how she connects with others). These services uplift and inspire healing, connecting with your divine being, and aligning you with what you desire in life.

I also offer courses, workshops, challenges, digital guides and worksheets, event speaking, and much more that help empower self-improvement, self-love, and healing through style.

What sets me apart is my focus on using the power of clothing for healing and self-revolution. I’m most proud that my brand is a purposeful movement created after my pain and can transform the lives of other women too. I put my heart, soul, and tears into making Journey Your Style what it is. It’s my lightwork developed from my shadow work to help women discover their light after darkness too. My brand says that you have the permission to be the best version of yourself, and you are worthy of the life you desire after trauma.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I can see a big transition happening in the industry of style and fashion over the next several years. While people are becoming more conscious spiritually, we’re becoming more in tune with our responsibility to one another and the planet. We have already started to focus more on sustainable fashion selections like thrifting, shopping small, and reselling stores. More and more brands will use recycled fabrics in their designs. And fast fashion will more than likely be a thing of the past.

I can also see consumers caring less about labels and more about how they feel energetically in clothing. We already saw how the pandemic changed how people dressed while working from home. Being comfortable was a priority for most when it came to staying home. We will learn how to use the power of clothing to our advantage to better ourselves and opportunities.
